BLAIRMAYNE(best price 7-2) has been in super form throughout the last few months and that good run looks set to continue returning to the scene of one of her best recent performances. Following a smooth win at Fairyhouse three starts ago, she arrived at the Dublin venue with a big opportunity of following up but despite running right up to her best form, she couldn’t quite cope with the more prominently ridden Fit For Function who managed to obtain first run. Running a blinder from a bad draw in a hotly-contest event at Galway last week, the son of Zebedee is much better berthed on this occasion in box three and providing he can hold his position in the early stages, he has a good chance of running his rivals down close home.

MOWHOOB(best price 3-1) ran a good deal better than the final finishing position suggest at Beverley last time out and he can go well in what looks an atrocious race. Dropped in by design from his coffin box high draw, Dandy Nicholls’ inmate found himself detached from the main pack as the field rounded into the home straight at the Yorkshire venue, but it was this point onwards where things really began to develop. Running on with great gusto from the three furlong pole, the son of Medicean was about to launch what looked a potent challenge when he found a wall of horses dropping back into his lap and he was forced to come home in his own time once his winning chance had gone. Whether he would have won is anyone’s guess but his did finish full of running, so there’s every chance he can build on that unlucky effort and be competitive off his current mark.
