ACTING LASS (NAP) (best price 6-4) posted a smart set of figures when he took a competitive event over today’s course on his racecourse debut and he’s taken to back up that performance despite facing several rivals of similarly potential. The feature of that display at the Midland venue 26 days ago was how strong he was in the latter part of the contest and with the form looking solid courtesy of subsequent performances of the likes of New Member and Lady Karina, Harry Fry’s charge and extra two furlongs and added tongue-tie will hopefully induce some sort of further improvement.

To say WEST OF THE EDGE (best price 11-8) has been found another decent opportunity is a big understatement and he should prove way too strong for today’s opponents based on his current wellbeing and bargain-basement handicap mark. Dr Newland’s charge kicked off the new season by taking advantage of a significant slippage in the ratings by landing a handicap chase off a perch of 101 and although he had to work a little harder than expected off a 12lb higher mark at Carlisle last time out, he always looked as though he had matters in hand. Returning to hurdles to exploit a lower mark, the son of Westerner is fancied to complete a quick hat trick with stamina on a testing surface his main attributes.

LOST THE MOON (best price 5-2) left the impression she would have won on her first outing in handicap company at Wolverhampton last time out but for denied a clear run in the latter stages and she can prove that theory correct and turn the form around with main market rival Paper Faces. Held up at the back of the field off slow fractions, the daughter of Authorised was just beginning to mount a serious challenge rounding the home bend when she met a wall of horses in her path approaching the furlong pole and finishing hard on the bridle, she was unable to get into top gear. Up against similar opposition off the same mark, Mark Tompkins’ inmate will hopefully get a more even gallop to race at this time around and having already run respectably around today’s track when clearly being teed up for a handicap mark, today should be the day she strikes.
