ENGLISHWOMAN (best price 2-1) caught the eye here last week by the way she finished off her race over an inadequate trip, so she makes plenty of appeal now racing back over her favoured 6f. Not only was David Evans’ charge flat to the boards over the minimum trip eight days ago, she was also racing in the slowest part of the track up the inside, so to get within touching distance of the in-form pair, Lady Nayef and Piazon, from where she was at halfway was an extremely commendable effort by the daughter of Acclamation. Although stall 2 is no bed of roses for this four-year-old this afternoon, she has overcome the coffin box inside draw on her two previous encounters over today’s C&D and she’s fancied to add to her impressive track stats of 2113.

COME BACK KING (best price 7-4) clocked an impressive set of figures for a horse of his grade when getting off the mark at the seventh time of asking last time out and he’s fancied to find the necessary improvement to follow up. Runner-up to the useful High Command the time before, Michael Appleby’s inmate showed good resolution and stamina in equal measures to score in tidy fashion 21 days ago, and with his overall and split times stacking up nicely compared to the rest of the card, another big performance looks on the cards.

MITHQAAL (NAP) (best price 11-8) took to the Fibresand like a duck to water based on his winning performance here 21 days ago and with an extra furlong promising to suit, he should take plenty of beating. Dropping back down in trip, Michael Appleby’s charge, unsurprisingly, found himself a little outpaced in the early stages, but with his stamina to call on, he proved way too strong for his rivals by powering clear in the final furlong. Not only did the son of Speithstown dip under the course standard time, he clocked an impressive 36.6 for the last 3f and if he runs to anywhere near that sort of level this afternoon, a 7lb shouldn’t be sufficient to stop him continuing on his upward curve. Having finished close up to the selection in the very same race, Captain Revelation looks the obvious each-way alternative based on his speed figures and overall form at the track (22211135).
