There is a long way to go before John Gosden’s three-year-old can be mentioned in the same breath as his illustrious parent, but his free-running an exuberant Kempton success was a reminder that horses from that bloodline can be pretty headstrong. He will need to settle a shade better to realise his potential as the season wears on, however, he remains a colt of real potential and he can make his fitness edge count here. 

The withdrawal of original fancy Mondialiste (sidelined after rather carelessly pulling a shoe off) means, almost by default, that DAWN OF HOPE (Best price 11-2) gains the vote. The Doncaster Listed race won by Kool Company with the selection in third could hold the key to this race and it is difficult to split the two given both displayed plenty of positives that day. The former travelled strongly and finished his race off well to grab victory on the line while Dawn Of Hope moved equally well before flattening out close home. Both have yet to truly prove their credentials at Group level just yet though, but Roger Varian’s filly stays a mile thoroughly and is narrowly preferred as her price is a shade bigger.
