The selection has won his sole start at Gosforth Park and lost little in defeat behind Udontdodou at Chelmsford so could be peaking at the right time.

The classy DON’T TOUCH (Best price 4-1) was beaten less than two lengths in Group 1 company at Ascot last autumn and looks to have a great opportunity to strike in this event. The draw could have been kinder to the Richard Fahey-duo with Kimberella also drawn on the wing but their stable has enjoyed some success at this track this week in valuable races and narrow preference is for Don’t Touch who should appreciate the return to today’s trip after shaping with promise over seven furlongs in Ireland on his comeback. The reapplication of the visor could be the final piece of the jigsaw.

The tasty prices about the chance of I AM NOT HERE (Best price 9-1) have sadly evaporated over night but the morning quotes are still fair for a horse which caught the eye keeping on over an insufficient trip at Carlisle on Thursday. The selection is 2-2 on the Tapeta and looks as though this trip could be within his remit these days given he was staying on powerfully to see off Isharah here before Christmas (1m4f). London Prize will be understandably popular given his eight length success at Goodwood last time. He was second to Natural Scenery here over course and distance in February which looks a strong piece of form.

It has been a decade since the last filly won this race, but NATURAL SCENERY (Best price 15-2) could end the hoodoo by landing the prestigious staying event for Godolphin for the second year running. Antiquarium’s win last year was further evidence the Dubai operation is happy to target valuable handicaps these days and Natural Scenery looks to have been targeted at today’s prize given she has been rested since finishing an unfortunate sixth to stablemate Winning Story on AW Finals day at Lingfield. The selection is unbeaten in three outings for Josie Gordon and is 2-2 at today’s venue so looks to have a great chance of emulating Juniper Girl’s 2007 win.

A difficult puzzle for punter to assess with Midterm beginning to look a shade disappointing, Mount Logan inconsistent and arguably better at Goodwood and the likeable Second Step perhaps a more effective horse on a sounder surface. With that in mind, RED VERDON (Best price 9-2) could be the answer to a difficult puzzle as he was far from disgraced in the Coronation Cup behind Highland Reel and that race has worked out well with the winner and Idaho both scoring since. The first-time blinkers could work the oracle for the selection given he takes a big drop in class and ran well in both the English and Irish Derbys last summer.

Connections of ELIZABETH BENNET (Best price 7-2) were significantly impressed with her early efforts at home to enter her in an Irish Group 1 later this season so she could prove a filly of rare potential. Her subdued opening effort may have questioned that confidence, but she re-enforced the view she is a juvenile to keep onside at Lingfield when outclassing her rivals to score in a fast time. The selection has yet to prove cut in the ground is suitable but could be worth risking ahead of the likeable Dance Diva and Tajaanus. Carlisle winner Ellthea may well be overpriced as she posted a decent time three weeks ago on genuinely soft ground.

The underfoot conditions should be ideal for last year’s winner Breton Rock who started his season with a fine run in the Lockinge behind Royal Ascot winner Ribchester before performing with credit at Haydock back over seven furlongs last time when tapped for toe at a crucial stage. However, the Leicester form of HOME OF THE BRAVE (Best price 5-2) looks pretty good given Tasleet’s performance last weekend when only narrowly beaten at Group 1 level and he gains the nod. Home Of The Brave was a cosy winner on his seasonal reappearance, won’t mind conditions and has been saved for this.
