Newcomers Ghaith and Magical Ride represent yards capable of readying one on debut and any market support should be noted.

STAR OF WAR showed a fair level of form in three starts as a juvenile and the return to a mile, over which she produced her best performance when second at Newmarket in September, can benefit her cause. She's Apples ran with promise on both her C&D outings in the autumn and can improve on what she achieved on those occasions, while Lady Schannell shaped as though the extra furlong would play to her strengths when a decent third on debut here 12 days ago.

DAME FREYA STARK ran well when third under a positive ride at Lingfield eight days ago and looks ready to shed her maiden tag for Mark Johnston. Previously fourth in a hot maiden at Ayr last year, the three-year-old should have come on plenty for her return to action and makes greater appeal than Nooshin, who outran 33-1 odds here when third on debut back in November. So Hi Cardi and Madame Tantzy are also taken seriously.

CARDSHARP carried a big weight to victory at Lingfield 10 days ago and could repeat the trick here in a race that he might just be allowed to dominate. Gelded over the winter, he may eke out extra improvement this season and could be campaigned at a higher level as the year progresses. Glendevon is talented but needs to be produced late in the day, while Crossing The Line looked progressive prior to a defeat at Wolverhampton in January and should be suited by this return to Polytrack after a break.

TREACHEROUS arrives here on the back of a hat-trick of victories and the last two of those wins have come over this C&D. He will have to improve to defy a career-high mark but he is progressive and his record on the all-weather is very good. Global Academy made an encouraging return to action following a 256-day break when a close-up fourth behind the selection recently and he could improve for that run. Others to consider are Reckless Endeavour and Lightning Charlie.

KING'S ADVICE made a winning debut for this yard at Lingfield last month and the way he won that race suggests that a 6lb rise in the ratings may not be enough to stop him from taking this contest. Unit of Assessment has won twice over C&D in recent months and he is an obvious threat to the selection, while Central City and Dutch Uncle are others to consider.
