ASTONISHED did plenty wrong on debut at Kempton, keen in the early stages and green in the middle part of the contest, but kept on well at the finish to record a taking victory and James Tate's daughter of Sea The Stars could be capable of successfully conceding weight to these rivals. Elikapeka was much improved when third over course and distance in January and is respected, while Maid For Life made an encouraging debut when second at Chelmsford and is of interest stepping up to a mile. Karl Burke's Robotique Danseur and the selection's stablemate Under The Storm are two newcomers worthy of a market check.

Lawmaking has some nice form in the book but may just benefit for the run having been off the track since September, while Rey Loopy continues to run well at this level and should give the form of this contest a solid outlook. Trevithick is closely matched on form with the latter, but this can go the way of THAAYER, who beat a couple of nice horses here on stable debut over the winter and could have even more to offer this year for Rebecca Menzies.

Everkyllachy has some respectable form in the book and warrants a market check on stable debut for Karen McLintock wearing a visor for the first time, while The Bull stayed on strongly to score over course and distance back in November after running well in three previous starts at big prices for Ben Haslam. Windforpower (second) and Star Cracker (third) are closely matched on the form of their run here three weeks ago, but this can go to NOVABRIDGE. The veteran is on a good mark of 46 and seldom runs a bad race at this venue for Karen Tutty.

Orient Class is now 16lb below his last winning mark but hasn't shaped with much promise in recent months, while Gowanbuster looked to go too hard early on over 6f here last month and should at least appreciate the drop back to 5f if positive tactics are used once more. A safer option might be JAN VAN HOOF, who won here six weeks ago before failing to follow up when raised 2lb a fortnight later. He was short of room that day at a crucial stage and could regain the winning thread.
