The nicely-bred daughter of Showcasing scored a shade cosily when favourite for her handicap bow just over a week ago, so a 6lb rise shouldn't inconvenience her. Shimmering Dawn offered some encouragement in three juvenile appearances and is interesting now that she steps out of novice company.

Lee Carter hasn't taken long to get the best out of MAAZEL and after he regained the winning thread over Lingfield's 7f, he went close again over the same track and trip last week. He is expected to be hit with a hike for that effort so connections are wise to get him out again off the same mark. Mr Potter justified market support to burst back into life at Kempton and is a lively danger if putting the same effort in. Canimar was second on that occasion and is 3lb better off having placed fourth at Lingfield subsequently.

The money came for LA CUMPARSITA at Newcastle on her first start since making the switch from Ireland to join Tristan Davidson and although she couldn't quite reward the support, there was plenty of promise in her third and she may not have to improve on it to land this contest. My Girl Maisie took a step back in the right direction to occupy the runner-up berth here last week, finishing a couple of positions ahead of Malaysian Boleh, but the veteran Swiss Cross struggled on the same card so connections have altered his headgear.

HARBOUR VISION so nearly backed up his C&D triumph when sent to Kempton, playing second fiddle to a rapidly-progressive opponent. He is sure to be in the thick of the action again and that recent match practice sways the vote in his favour ahead of Simoon, who was costly to follow in 2018 but still showed plenty of potential and has returned to Andrew Balding during the winter. Roof Garden also has his first start of the year but seems to like it here, as does Glory Awaits.

Some interesting handicap debutants do battle here but I'M AVAILABLE is the only one to arrive in winning form, having made all at Kempton. Balladeer struck over that trip but didn't convince with his stamina for a mile afterwards, and Lingfield runner-up Maqaadeer is possibly a bigger danger.

GREYZEE gained just reward for a couple of fine efforts in defeat when shedding his maiden tag in emphatic fashion at Kempton. He ran right the way to the line on that occasion so the rise from 1m is to his advantage, and he can continue on his upward curve. Rock Up In Style is another to arrive following a breakthrough triumph, showing a nice attitude at Wolverhampton. Fanfaronade perhaps didn't stay a mile and a half at Newcastle and now has blinkers applied for this more suitable test.

Orobas numbered DON'T DO IT among his victims when landing an amateurs' handicap at Lingfield last week but that came out of the blue and Michael Appleby's four-year-old, who is a bit more reliable and better off at these weight, can gain his revenge. Overtrumped sprung a surprise at Newmarket in August and is a threat if returning in the same sort of form. Bayston Hill was a fair third at Wolverhampton and the application of cheekpieces could help spark the necessary improvement.
