Aux Ptits Soins couldn't land a blow in the Cleeve Hurdle but might be worth another chance switching back to handicap company, as he bolted up in this sphere at Cheltenham's January meeting. Poker Play won impressively on heavy ground at Uttoxeter last month and is a definite player, while Coolanly, fifth in the Martin Pipe, and last-start Newcastle scorer Nestor Park are others to note.

BREWIN'UPASTORM ran a cracking race to finish fourth in last month's Ballymore Hurdle, only giving way late on, and he looks to have a brilliant chance now eased a furlong on this flatter track. Angels Breath was slightly disappointing when only managing seventh in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle but he should improve for this step up in trip and can bounce back to form, while Ireland's sole challenger is Chosen Mate, a game Grade 2 scorer at Naas last time. One For Rosie adds further spice to the race following his short-head second in a Grade 3 handicap at Sandown.

There will be no lack of pace here with Clondaw Castle, Ornua, Knocknanuss and Destrier all forward-going sorts and that will suit US AND THEM perfectly. Joseph O'Brien's charge has had a brilliant but slightly frustrating season to date, finishing runner-up in each of his last four starts (three of those in Grade 1 company), and no one could deny him his first success at the highest level. Lalor won over hurdles at this meeting 12 months ago but the rain earlier in the week won't have done his chances any favours, as he has disappointed on testing ground the last twice.

This represents a fantastic chance for APPLE'S JADE to leave her Cheltenham Festival disappointment in the past. Having looked unbeatable in her previous races this season, she is the one to beat now returned to three miles, a distance she has shown in the past is well within her repertoire. Sam Spinner was back to his best when second in the Stayers' Hurdle and he should at least confirm Cheltenham form with Wholestone (fifth) and West Approach (ninth). Nicky Henderson saddled Whisper to win back-to-back renewals of this in 2014 and 2015 and steps his Coral Cup winner William Henry up in trip in similar fashion, while fellow Prestbury Park winner Roksana is interesting having finished second to Santini in the Sefton Novices' Hurdle over the course and distance 12 months ago. If The Cap Fits has been crying out for a stamina test and he looks the pick of the Harry Fry pair, with the 11-year-old Unowhatimeanharry having plenty of questions to answer at present.

Kildisart was far from disgraced in the JLT Novices' Chase at Cheltenham 23 days ago, while the booking of crack 3lb claimer Jonjo O'Neill Jr on RSA Chase fourth Mister Malarky looks a shrewd move by connections.

Tiger Roll landed the spoils in this 12 months ago when narrowly hanging on from the fast-finishing Pleasant Company and is sure to be extremely popular looking to defend his crown off a 9lb higher mark. Vintage Clouds (second) and Lake View Lad (third) both ran fine trials for this in that race and give owner Trevor Hemmings a fantastic hand in a race he loves, while Gordon Elliott saddles 13 in total, including last year's third Bless The Wings and Irish National winner General Principle. Becher Chase winner Walk The Mill, Scottish National one-two Joe Farrell and Ballyoptic, and Gold Cup runner-up Anibale Fly are others to consider.

Donald McCain has had the fourth and second in this contest the last two years at double-figure prices, and a chance can be taken on FIN AND GAME. The booking of Donal McInerney looks a shrewd one and the seven-year-old shaped well when second at Haydock on heavy ground in December. It is likely that this has been his aim ever since and a mark of 127 looks there to be taken advantage of for a trainer who targets this meeting.
