Derby entrant MACKAAR got off the mark in determined fashion at Wolverhampton back in November and could prove tough to beat for the in-form Roger Varian. The three-year-old will stay further than this given time based on his pedigree and looks to have greater scope for improvement than Damon Runyon, who is still a maiden for John Gosden after five starts. Starlight Red and Thora both arrive with plenty to find in this sort of company.
