Left Back was third in that aforementioned course and distance contest and Crawford Robertson's 10lb allowance could help him get closer here, while cheekpieces are applied to both Billy Hicks and The Road Home, who both make slight appeal.

Dropped 3lb for those exertions, the nine-year-old can account for Sporting Press, who travelled best to score at Musselburgh last month, and Halcyon Days, who has proved a model of consistency in recent months and is in the form of his career at the age of 10.

The step up in trip will suit and he should prove hard to beat.
