UK Horse Racing Tips: Cheltenham

DR SANDERSON has three wins from four starts over hurdles and improved for the step up in trip at Ludlow last time out. Clearly thriving on his racing and a horse who enjoys good ground, Paul Nicholls' charge can go from strength to strength. Dashel Drasher is on a four-timer after an impressive Newbury triumph and must enter calculations, while Cotswold Way is a nice type and Mill Green is another expected to go well.

Mister Whitaker needs to step up but the Cheltenham Festival winner sports first-time cheekpieces and could be interesting if recapturing his form from earlier in the season. Wenyerreadyfreddie is surely better than his latest showing and is noted for leading connections, but HIGHWAY ONE O ONE was inconvenienced on soft ground in the Close Brothers last month and this could be the time to catch him back on better ground. His second here in January reads well after the winner finished fourth in the JLT and won at Aintree.

Just 2lb higher than when winning a Grade 3 over hurdles at Ascot in January last year, Jenkins is interesting reverting to the smaller obstacles and joins stable companion Rather Be and top-weight Unison on the shortlist. I'm A Game Changer should run his usual honest race but LE PATRIOTE boasts two wins from four starts wearing cheekpieces and looks the one they all have to beat following his ready Ayr triumph in November. He arrives here fresh and that could be key.

MINELLA FOR ME has held his form well this season and won three of his five starts since undergoing wind surgery. The nine-year-old has gone up 10lb for his latest Kempton success, but that seems fair given the manner of that impressive five-length demolition job and there could be more to come as he's lightly raced for his age. The Dellercheckout has a nice racing weight and must be considered given his connections and because he won well in first-time blinkers at Taunton in February, while Fifty Shades and Little Bruce also make some appeal.

Thomas Campbell has had a wind operation since a disappointing run at Exeter back in February and he should appreciate a return to good ground. The booking of 7lb claimer Connor Brace, who teamed up with Nicky Henderson to win the Scottish Champion Hurdle last weekend, is also worth noting. Tobefair had a tough race when second in the Pertemps here last month, and perhaps FIRST ASSIGNMENT can reverse the form despite finishing 16 lengths behind that runner-up 34 days ago. He is 6lb better off at the weights this time and a drying surface can see Ian Williams' charge back in the winner's enclosure.

DINGO DOLLAR was well fancied for Ayr's Scottish Grand National last weekend, only to be a late withdrawal on account of the rattling quick ground, and his supporters could quickly have smiles back on their faces after this assignment. The seven-year-old has posted a number of solid efforts in defeat this season, including when third in the Ladbrokes Trophy, and 1lb lower than when runner-up at Doncaster last time, he looks sure to play a leading role. Allelu Alleluia will have plenty of the locals backing him and warrants respect following his second-placed effort at Ludlow, while Perfect Candidate, also trained nearby, loves it here and continues to slide down the ratings.

MAGIC DANCER could follow up his victory in this contest last year off a 6lb higher mark. His runner-up effort in the Betfair Hurdle shows him to be arriving at the top of his game and, unlike a lot of the others, he is partnered by a regular rider in Richard Patrick. Turning Gold fairly bolted up at Leicester 97 days ago and we know he likes it here having finished fifth in last season's Fred Winter, with Laughing Luis, Red Hot Chilly and Innocent Touch adding further spice to a high-class, competitive handicap.
