UK Horse Racing Tips: Cheltenham

POSH TRISH can be forgiven a modest showing in the Mares' Novices' event at the festival here last month and get back on track for Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden. Progressive prior to that heavy defeat, the six-year-old didn't seem to pick up on the tacky surface, and the return to decent ground can see her bounce back to winning ways. Indefatigable outran lofty odds to finish fifth in the same race and warrants respect, but she was beaten by the selection at Taunton in December. Hat-trick seeker The Cull Bank could prove best of the remainder.

Kupatana had failed to complete three of her four previous outings before scoring at Kelso last month under a fine Sean Bowen ride, while Little Miss Poet beat her by seven lengths at Ludlow in January before just coming up short at Wetherby in a three-runner contest a few weeks later. GRACEFUL LEGEND was third on that day, but she seemed unsuited by the dawdling pace and got back on track when scoring in a bigger field at Newbury last time. A 5lb rise doesn't look too harsh for that and she could be one to follow after shedding the maiden tag over fences.

CAP SOLEIL looked in need of the outing when down the field here in the Mares' Hurdle 37 days ago and she can be given another opportunity for the Fergal O'Brien team. Winning a Grade 1 was always going to be a big ask first time out, but she was previously second in the novice event at the Festival behind Laurina and should appreciate these calmer shores. Casablanca Mix is talented and showed up well for a long way when third in a Listed contest over fences at Huntingdon in January (the runner-up was second in the Grand National), while Irish raider Agusta Gold was third in a Grade 3 at Limerick last time and is respected on that form.

AUNTY ANN ran well when fourth in the Badger Ales Trophy at Wincanton on her most recent start and makes plenty of appeal returning from a winter break as she drops into a grade in which she won two starts ago (also at the Somerset track). Molly Childers shaped as though she would be more suited by a stiffer test of stamina when fourth over 3m at Warwick last month, while Goodnight Charlie may prove more at home over fences having pulled up over timber at Warwick eight days ago.

HAVINGAGOODTIME was last seen finishing fourth to Fred Winter winner Band Of Outlaws at Naas in February and she looks capable of further progression now switching to handicaps for the first time in this code. Miranda was very disappointing at Wincanton last time but a line can be put through that effort as she never looked happy from an early stage. Lady Camelot, Miss Mumtaz and Via Delle Volte complete the shortlist.

HAPPY DIVA was travelling nicely off this rating when unseating at Newbury latest and, having beaten the Grand National second Magic Of Light at Huntingdon the time before that, marks herself out as the one to beat here. Whatduhavtoget should be sharper for her Warwick reappearance and has a good record at this time of year, while Pique Rock carries a 7lb penalty having opened her chase account at Huntingdon last time. Lucinda Russell's raider Alizee De Janeiro is also respected having won four of her last five outings, but this represents a whole different ball game than the Kelso contests she has been running in.

Early Morning Rain, who was behind Ellarna when they first met at Ludlow, improved past her Ditcheat rival at Taunton when they finished second and third respectively behind Miss Honey Ryder. Jamie Snowden's mare then got off the mark at Plumpton last time and is entitled to be thereabouts here. However, preference is for YEAVERING BELLE, who showed likeable qualities when holding off a useful mare of Harry Fry's to score on debut at Warwick and can be forgiven a slightly disappointing effort at Southwell latest, when far too keen with an inexperienced rider aboard, on a course which would have been a tad on on the sharp side. Floressa created a taking impression when making a winning introduction at Ludlow and is respected, with Agent Valdez, Strike The Flint and Czech Her Out others to consider.
