LUFRICIA ran with promise on her racecourse bow when finishing third at Kempton in October and she is entitled to come forward plenty for that effort with Roger Varian's string beginning to hit full stride. Aplomb won his second start at Yarmouth and the way he travelled through that contest suggested the drop back from 6f would pose no issues, while C&D winner Rocket Action looks best of the remainder.

GLOBAL WARNING has shown enough in three starts thus far to suggest an opening mark of 77 is realistic. His return this year saw him finish third at Kempton, beaten two lengths to a now 90-rated horse of John Gosden's who runs in the Listed race on this card, and he can take full advantage of the weight-for-age allowance against more exposed rivals. Chosen World has been remarkably consistent over the winter months and his effort last time off 1lb lower, when behind Tiercel, represents a career-best performance. Desert Lantern and Insurplus are others to watch out for.

MAGIC J won with any amount in hand on his debut at Yarmouth last September to justify a lofty $950,000 price tag, and it looks worth taking a chance on him coping with this steep rise in class. Marie's Diamond is worth consideration now dropped in class, while Daarik returned under a penalty to win at Kempton at the end of last month and he is entitled to improve for that outing.

Island Brave won this last year off 5lb lower and made a solid return to action when fourth at Kempton last month, while Seamour, third in a Listed race at York in 2017, warrants a market check back from a 548-day absence. Buzz has some fair form in the book but was a beaten favourite on Polytrack when last seen in November, and this can go the way of DESERT FIRE. Fit from a winter spell in Dubai, the four-year-old should enjoy this step up in distance under Pat Cosgrave, who was twice successful on board the selection on turf in 2018. Big Kitten won here on his final start last season and is a danger, while Baghdad looked progressive last summer and would be dangerous if allowed an easy lead.

Gantier has proved a little frustrating to follow in his career so far, only winning once in six starts, and can be opposed despite trainer John Gosden's excellent record at this track. Bo Samraan narrowly failed to land a gamble when third at Nottingham nine days ago, but his early pace could set this up nicely for SMARTER. Possibly in need of the run when down the field at Wolverhampton last month, the three-year-old scored with ease at Southwell a few weeks later, and a mark of 78 looks there to be exploited. Fox Fearless represents an in-form owner/jockey combination and wears cheekpieces for the first time.

BURFORD BROWN showed some reasonable form when scoring here over 7f back in October and is of serious interest now going down the sprinting route with Robert Cowell. The four-year-old might be open to greater improvement than most of these over this distance, and couldn't be in much better hands for these type of races. Another Angel seldom runs a bad race at this venue and has to be taken seriously, while Key To Power completes the shortlist.
