PEPPAY LE PUGH was an impressive winner at Ayr eight days ago, his sixth win this season, and he is very hard to oppose once again today despite an 8lb hike in the ratings. Wishfull Dreaming is another who has had a productive season and he should also go well, while Friary Gold is likely to struggle on his first start since September.

LIVA struggled in a valuable handicap hurdle at Ascot last month but his previous form suggests that he can win a race of this nature. Whoshotthesheriff won well on his debut for this yard at Sedgefield last time out and it would be no surprise to see him go well once again. Others to consider are Pagero and Staged Engagement.

SCHOOL LANE arrives here having filled second place in three of his last four starts but this appears to be an ideal opportunity for the six-year-old to earn his first victory under Rules. Graystown won well at Ayr two starts ago and that form gives him a good shout. Instingtive is not a regular winner but he still edges out Opechee as the third most likely winner of the quartet.

On recent form this looks to be between PEGASE AMOUR and Cairnshill, with marginal preference for the former. Liam Lennon's Irish raider impressed when third in a deeper race than this at Down Royal last time, and could be suited by this step up in trip at a more conventional track. Tawseef and Presence Felt aren't getting any younger and have to give weight to the younger pair, so can be opposed for the time being.

PETITE GANACHE disappointed here over 3m1f last time and has a few questions to answer, but may be worth giving one more chance having scored over a similar distance to this in comfortable fashion at Newcastle the time before that. Louloumills was a long way adrift of the winner when a clear second at Sedgefield in the autumn but has to be respected making his first outing since off the same mark, while Jonjo O'Neill's Aquarian and Irish raider Maureen's Star are others to note.

There is not many clues on offer for this as all four protagonists make their first appearances on a racecourse, so a tentative vote is given to DARTMOOR, who represents Jonjo O'Neill and cost 32,000 pounds at the sales. Keith Dalgleish holds a 25 percent strike-rate in this sphere this season and his Tonicngin is worth keeping an eye on, while Mannochmore is interesting making the trip over the border from Scotland.
