Six tips for tomorrow's card, and a double.
13.50 Sandown
Paul Nicholls’ GETAWAY TRUMP (best price 7-2) has taken on some serious horses this season, and should find today’s field a lot easier to compete with. Back in December the six-year-old came second to Champ, which was after two convincing wins against Tedham and Talktomenow. Tedham has since gone on to win at Wincanton.
Getaway Trump was fairly disappointing when losing to Rouge Vif at Kelso but scored in style at Ayr earlier in the month.
14.05 Haydock
The rain forecasted is going to make SAFE VOYAGE (best price 8-1) a major player in this race. John Quinn’s horse will relish the soft conditions, and has put in some of his best performance when returning from a break. The six-year-old looked likely to improve when winning this race last year, and then going on to back it up with a win at Galway.
14.25 Sandown
BLACK CORTON (best price 7-2) could finally break the run of second place finishes against this field. Definitly Red is the obvious danger but connections would have enjoyed a bit more rain in the air. Black Corton was beaten by today’s favourite but that doesn’t tell the whole story, Bryony Frost did wonders to remain on the eight-year-old following a bad mistake which pretty much ended his chances. If the Nicholls horse can get round error free he’s in with a huge chance.
14.45 Leicester
DONJUAN TRIUMPHANT (best price 6-1) is another horse who will be hoping for plenty of rain before the race tomorrow. With the weather predicted the six-year-old has a cracking chance of causing an upset. Andrew Balding’s horse finished last season in cracking form, out running his odds on two occasions before scoring in November.
15.35 Sandown
THE YOUNG MASTER (best price 10-1) is 6lb lower than when winning this contest in 2016, the ten-year-old has had mixed luck since but was impressive when placing at Cheltenham. Well worth an each-way bet with some of the terms floating around.
LE REVE (best price 20-1) isn’t the most obvious option but has a good chance of scoring an upset. He was third here off a much higher mark in 2015, and has found some of his best form this season. Maxime Tissier could spring a surprise, looks a very big price.
