White Coat was a little disappointing in a Redcar handicap last time but the drop back in trip could be in his favour, while Masked Identity was only a short head away from making it two from two at Wolverhampton last month.

KING SHAMARDAL had to play second fiddle to the useful-looking Fox Leicester last time but could get his day in the spotlight here having shaped well on that occasion, with the drop back to seven furlongs expected to suit. Grey Berry ran better than the bare result would suggest when not beaten far at Pontefract on debut and is respected, while Eardley Road was an impressive winner on debut and could leave his recent disappointment in the past now reverting to turf.

John Gosden looks to have a strong hand here and his Sea The Stars filly, FANNY LOGAN, could be the one to side with following her narrow defeat at Yarmouth on debut in the autumn. The form of that race looks strong, with the winner scoring on her reappearance, and she can edge out stablemate Inference at the finish. Dorah has finished second on both appearances so far and is respected, with Soloist and Happy Hiker others with claims.

COOLAGH MAGIC ran creditably over 5f at Thirsk recently and is expected to build on that effort, off 1lb lower, now swapping the visor worn that day for cheekpieces, which were equipped for his two all-weather victories in January. Look Out Louis is entitled to build on his reappearance sixth at Pontefract and merits shortlist inclusion, likewise Lingfield scorer Warning Fire and Roulston Scar, who represents last year's winning stable.

Mark Johnston typically excels with his three-year-olds when stepping them up in trip, so it is no surprise to see he has won two of the three previous runnings of this race. His RICH CUMMINS, who finished an outpaced second over 1m4f at Lingfield on Tuesday, is thus a confident pick. L'Un Deux Trois is entitled to step up on his reappearance fourth at Wolverhampton and can fight it out with the returning Moon King for the silver medal.

Shawaamekh ended last term with a career-best performance at Catterick and warrants plenty of respect on his seasonal/handicap debut, while Kupa River remains in excellent form despite finishing down the field when sent off favourite at Ripon. Preference, however, is for SAISONS D'OR, who bravely made all over the extended 1m at Nottingham last time and dropping back in trip is unlikely to bother this aggressive runner.

He produced a career-best performance when fourth at Windsor, is effectively 7lb lower today with a drop in the ratings and Harrison Shaw's claim, and may improve for the application of first-time cheekpieces.
