JUST BRILLIANT ran behind the likes of Masar and Roaring Lion in last year's Craven and then was sidelined for the best part of 12 months before returning with a really encouraging second in a Kempton novice event, albeit beaten seven lengths. A mark of 81 should be within his compass on his handicap bow and he is preferred to High Acclaim, who found a mile on the sharp side when favourite at this venue recently. Escapability and Junderstand give Alan King a decent hand, and New Agenda isn't out of it either.

Despite showing promise in two juvenile outings, Godolphin felt the need to geld Global Heat during the off season. Better is expected of him, but CALCULATION ran with credit behind top-class colts Too Darn Hot and Line Of Duty last year and the son of Ascot Gold Cup heroine Estimate will relish middle-distances and beyond in time. Sinjaari was ahead of Entrusting when they took minor honours at Redcar, and the latter ran behind Durston at Nottingham in the autumn. Will of Iron proved he has a future when runner-up on his comeback over track and trip.

VICTORY CHIME and Persian Sun signed off their three-year-old campaigns with wins and although the latter has any amount of scope for improvement on his handicap debut and Ralph Beckett's gelding only scrambled home by a short head from a 66/1 shot at Kempton, the runner-up has since boosted that form by rising 15lb in the handicap. Ilhabela Fact may have failed in his hat-trick bid but could bounce back and, in actual fact, nothing can really be ruled out with confidence.

DURRELL got closest to the smart Turgenev on the last of two appearances for Luca Cumani, and James Fanshawe has a decent prospect on his hands on that evidence. The son of Animal Kingdom, in a first-time hood and now a gelding, should be able to make a successful start for his new handler, although Lady Madison was a fair fourth in a good Kempton contest after making a successful introduction at Chelmsford. Kasuku is the pick of the newcomers.
