BLACK MISCHIEF struggled in the Pertemps Final last time out but his previous form, including a victory at Haydock in November, suggests he can win a race of this nature going over fences for the first time. Solomon Grey hit the crossbar on his last two starts over hurdles and could be the main threat also debuting over the larger obstacles, especially as First Flow may find this ground too quick.

BRIAN BORANHA has been highly tried since his impressive win at Sedgefield in October but has dropped to a workable mark and can be given another chance. Bob Mahler has to be respected following his two recent victories, although he does have to defy a career-high mark. Theclockisticking was not disgraced in two competitive handicap hurdles at Cheltenham and Aintree and it would be no surprise to see him go well.

Neil King's seven-year-old is respected off the same mark with conditions perfect and looks likely to fight out the finish with Dan Skelton's Wetherby winner Theatrebar, who competes off a 5lb higher mark. Silver Kayf shaped well at Wincanton and could still be feasibly treated.

Dual Southwell winner GOODTHYNEAWAY has impressed of late and Dan Skelton's lightly-raced six-year-old could still be ahead of the assessor looking to land a hat-trick. Stablemate Delgany Demon is worth a market check on his first outing for 546 days, although more of a threat may come from Farm The Rock, who was second off this mark at Ffos Las last month. The consistent Almost Gold and Harry Fry's Goodnitesweetheart are others to note.
