None of those set an insurmountable standard, though, so perhaps DIVINE SPIRIT is the one to side with. Charlie Appleby's filly's purchase price went from 92,000 guineas as a yearling to 850,000 guineas at the Breeze Up Sales this year and she is related to a number of speedy juveniles. Fellow Godolphin runner Final Song also has a profile to provoke interest, while Clive Cox runs Star Alexander, whose dam is related to the Xtension, a Group-race winner for the yard as a two-year-old.

CAPE CAVALLI created a favourable impression on his debut at Newmarket last month, keeping on well for second over 10 furlongs. The third from that race has won since, giving the form a solid look, so Simon Crisford's runner can land the spoils. John Gosden runs a couple of interesting newcomers in Kesia, a 300,000-guineas daughter of Australia, and Swift Wing, the choice of Frankie Dettori and a full-brother to classy middle distance campaigners Eagle Top, Wings Of Desire and The Lark. Imperium is by Frankel and out of dual Oaks heroine Ramruma, so is certainly bred to be good.

Tinto certainly didn't down tools once headed at Bath (Champion Brogie further back in third) and could put those battling qualities to good use, while Shorter Skirt got up close home to win at Chelmsford and could prove feasibly treated on her handicap bow. Swindler and Phosphor are other handicap debutants to consider, but MOTAGALLY gets the vote. Charles Hills' colt struggled in Listed company on his final juvenile start, but was a solid third when switched to handicaps on his reappearance and is 1lb lower for this.

Walk On Water has won four of his last five on the all-weather and is respected if producing the same level of form on turf, while Habub bolted up at Lingfield on his return to action but the US-bred colt has to prove he acts on grass. Diamond Dougal got the better of Equitation when they met at Ripon last month and Mick Channon's sprinter has since run well at Ripon, but LOUIE DE PALMA gets the vote. Last year was a bit of a write off for Clive Cox's gelding, with only a second-placed finish at Salisbury a highlight, but he remains relatively lightly raced and returned to action with a cracking effort at Doncaster, beaten just a length.

Alan King will have had good reason to enjoy AWEEDRAM's win at Newmarket on his reappearance as he appeared a shade keen at the outset but kept on well to score. William Buick again takes up the reigns and he can defy a 6lb higher mark at the expense of I'm Available, who is likely to get hit hard by the handicapper after winning by eight lengths at Nottingham last time. He steps up in class here, which might just find him out under a penalty. King Ademar ran a respectable race for second on his return and could go well on his handicap bow.

Motafaawit produced an accomplished display to get up close home at Beverley on his return, but a 7lb hike might make him vulnerable. His trainer Richard Hannon also saddles Dirty Rascal and Aim Power, but his trio might find DOUBLE KODIAC too strong here. Simon Crisford's gelding returned to action with a good second behind a Hannon-trained winner at Newmarket but the benefit of that run could allow him to exact his revenge. Awe ran a couple of solid races last season and is interesting on his return, likewise Indomitable.
