He is sure to make another bold bid but must give 12lb to MISS MATTERHORN, who shaped like a surefire future winner when fourth on her Brighton introduction, beaten less than a length. Probable Cause is a half-sister to a Listed-winning miler and appears the pick of the newcomers.

Urban Spirit burst back into life when going down by the narrowest of margins at Newcastle, while Yasir isn't getting any younger but proved that he is no back number when third over this course and distance. Wally's Wisdom doesn't win as often as he should, although he is rarely too far away, but perhaps ALACRITAS can capitalise on her falling rating because she did her best work late on over 1m3f at February when last seen.

DREAM MAGIC has let down favourite-backers twice relatively recently, but he wasn't far away on either outing and sandwiched between those performances is a success over this trip at Lingfield. Assuming he performs to that sort of level again, he will be hard to beat and is preferred to Lost History, who almost sprung a 50-1 shock here on his return to the Flat. Sir Gnet is holding his form quite well and has to enter the reckoning too.

NABBEYL was beaten a long way into second at Bath less than a fortnight ago, but he bumped into a progressive colt and it is highly likely there is nothing with that sort of potential among the opposition here. Roger Varian's inmate has blinkers to help get the best out of him now, and proved he handles this surface when second here in December. His recent match fitness gives him an edge over Gravistas, who offered encouragement as a juvenile, while Dark Miracle is turned out again quickly in an attempt to atone for Friday's heavy Nottingham defeat.

Lady Of Authority and Ember's Glow took minor money over C&D last month but may have to settle for supporting roles again, this time behind MURAAQEB. The Milton Bradley-trained five-year-old isn't entirely reliable but he has won two of his last three starts and a chance is taken that he is on a going day again. He has never won over this trip, but seems to stay it well enough. Pike Corner Cross is a regular visitor to Wolverhampton and also merits respect.
