He needs to take another step forward but the six-yea-rold still merits the utmost respect. The unbeaten Habub faces the toughest task of his short career to date but he should not be discounted, while Embour and Walk On Walter are others to consider.

LIGHT ANGEL was very green on his debut over 5f at Doncaster a couple of weeks ago but he overcame that inexperience to only be beaten by a neck. The step up in trip should help this relation to Lope De Vega and he should be more streetwise. There are a whole host of well-bred newcomers in this field but the one that stands out is Sir Oliver, who cost 115,000gns as a yearling. The son of Dark Angel is a full-brother to the dual Nunthorpe winner Mecca's Angel as well as the Group 3 winner Markaz. Heaven Forfend is a full-brother to the black-type performer Seven Heavens, while the 180,000gns purchase Baadirr is another who merits a place on the shortlist.

Brancaster ended his 2018 campaign with a duo of successes at Haydock in September and warrants plenty of respect in his search for a hat-trick. Carp Kid posted a career-best performance when staying on well to score at Chepstow a fortnight ago and is likely to be competitive despite a 5lb rise in the handicap. Preference, however, goes to HORATIO STAR, as he has the scope for improvement back at 1m4f on his handicap debut based on his second at Catterick last July.

After John and Penrhos both showed promise on their respective debuts and are capable of better, while newcomer Falsehood represents leading connections and warrants a market check.

John Gosden holds a strong hand here and jockey bookings suggest Arabist is the pick of his two newcomers, slightly ahead of Logician. Saeed bin Suroor took this in 2017 and is another with two chances, saddling Najib and the interesting debutant Dubai Tradition, who is related to plenty of winners. However, preference is for Roger Charlton's Bated Breath filly ORCHIDIA, who ran with encouragement when fourth at Haydock on debut and the 120,000-euros purchase could build on that stepping up in trip.

Ballylemon is open to improvement up in trip following his Wolverhampton second last month, while Prejudice is another to keep an eye on up in distance on his first outing for David Simcock. Sash and The Pink'n are others who make each-way appeal.
