He returns to timber under a 7lb penalty and should take all of the beating. The Herds Garden is an admirable performer who is just 1lb higher than when successful at Catterick on New Year's Day. Olly Murphy's Compatriot could have more to offer, while Mythical Prince can't be completely ruled out.

WHATMORE was the highest rated of these over hurdles and has produced some useful performances in competitive contests throughout his career over timber. He could have too much class for these going over the larger obstacles for the first time. The pick of Newtown Boy's hurdles form saw him get the better of subsequent Grade 2 winner Rouge Vif in a hot contest also featuring Jarveys Plate at Hereford. He is respected, but Tanrudy will have to improve markedly.

AKARITA LIGHTS looked a useful prospect in bumpers when trained by John Quinn and ran with credit following nearly a year off when second here on his first outing for Alan King. He will have appreciated that course experience and is of interest up in trip on his first start over hurdles. Overflow could build on his Uttoxeter effort trying this distance, while point winner Deputy Jones made a respectable first Rules appearance at Fontwell, finishing third behind the smart Danse Idol.

BACK ON THE LASH found the step up in grade at Cheltenham too much to handle at this stage of his career when pulled up. His effort prior was a solid one on handicap debut here over further and he appears open to further improvement. Black Kalanisi is capable of further progression on his third outing over timber, while The Sweeney's second here over slightly shorter in early April gives him solid credentials.

Dallas Cowboy won well on his latest course appearance but has to prove himself over two furlongs further off a 4lb higher rating. Bandsman could take a step forward down in class after an indifferent round of jumping at Sandown last month, but the vote goes to STAR FOOT. A C&D winner two starts ago by eight lengths, he only went down by half a length under a penalty when upped in trip the following week and, despite being 2lb higher, may have more to offer over fences.

CRAIGMOR struck over fences at Fakenham two starts ago before landing a novice hurdle at Wincanton earlier this month. Olly Murphy's charge is 4lb higher than his last winning chase mark but is 2-3 over the larger obstacles and likely has further improvement in the pipeline. Vendredi Trois should run his usual honest race and is considered the principal threat, while Well Smitten could feasibly figure if the fitting of a first-time hood has the desired effect.

Polarbrook ran on well in the closing stages when striking over the extended 2m4f here last time and could be suited by the return to this longer trip, over which he's gone well in the past. American Life ran well for a long way when second over 3m1f at Plumpton last week and has strong place claims now cutting back in distance. The one to be on, however, may be LAMH AR LAMH, who is seven years younger than the aforementioned pair and looked as good as ever when winning over 3m at Taunton last month.
