UK Horse Racing Tips: Carlisle

DRAGON COMMAND was beaten less than two lengths into fifth on his debut at Doncaster and the War Command colt stayed on well to suggest the stiff finish here will play to his strengths. The rest of those with experience don't set the bar too high for the newcomers, so perhaps Leapers Wood and Rayong, who both have speedy pedigrees, could be the biggest dangers.

Highly Sprung was two lengths clear of Cale Lane when successful at Pontefract last time and could confirm the form as Faye McManoman's 5lb claim negates the handicap rise. Firmdecisions was a good second at Leicester most recently and has a chance despite a 4lb hike, but preference is for FINAL GO. Grant Tuer's gelding returned from a 253-day absence to take second at Ripon 10 days ago and has every chance off the same mark providing he doesn't bounce.

Zeshov has been steadily coming to hand this season and the handicapper has relented slightly in dropping him 1lb for his recent Musselburgh third, while Lamloom appears really well treated off a mark of 85 considering he placed at York off 93 last summer. His recent efforts haven't been nearly as good as that, though, so MOXY MARES gets the nod. Mark Loughnane's charge went close off this mark at Haydock last September and hinted at a return to that form when fifth at Windsor last week.

I Could Do Better caused a 33-1 upset when winning at Redcar in November and has claims on his return, while So Macho went close on both starts at Newcastle late last year and could be a factor if fully wound up for his reappearance. BRANDY SPIRIT signed off last season with a neck defeat at Chelmsford in November and returned to action with a promising third at Wetherby. Mick Easterby's gelding is taken to build on those efforts.

RAMESSES overcame something of a sluggish start to get on top close home at Leicester on his return. That effort suggested he could sharpen up for the outing so he is taken to make it two out of two this term. Howzer Black has run well three times over similar trips this season so has to be considered, while Kolossus was having his first run of the year when one place ahead of Evie Speed at Wetherby and the handicapper may have taken a real chance in dropping Michael Dods' charge 3lb.

A big run from Ramesses in the preceding race will boost the claims of Wild Hope here, as he was third to that rival at Leicester, while the hat-trick is not inconceivable for Plumette after wins at Leicester and Chepstow. Barasti Dancer showed plenty of grit to score at Brighton last time but GALE FORCE MAYA could be the one to side with, as she took to handicaps like a duck to water when coming from off the pace to win at Pontefract 19 days ago.

Colour Contrast won with plenty up his sleeve at Musselburgh last time but even with a 5lb penalty he is 3lb out of the handicap here. Cameo Star was a close-up second at Beverley latest and is interesting off a 2lb higher mark, but perhaps a 4lb penalty will not be enough to stop JACOB BLACK, who ran out a clear-cut winner over an extended 7f at Musselburgh last time.

This could be KNOWING GLANCE's chance to get his revenge on Supaulette. Richard Fahey's gelding was beaten a short head into second by Tim Easterby's filly at Thirsk last time, but the winner had the advantage of a recent run to her name that day and could find it more difficult to fend off the selection here. Newcastle third Dirchill and the potentially well handicapped Bibbidibobbidiboo complete the shortlist.
