ADAM'S ALE hasn't been seen since struggling in the Ayr Bronze Cup back in the autumn but he struck on his first start of last season and has his sights lowered for the start of his new campaign. If fitness is an issue, the one to take advantage could be Hard Solution, who had B Fifty Two back in third when landing a Hamilton selling handicap on Thursday. Coastal Drive might be able to get competitive too.

For all that he was successful over 1m4f at Thirsk, Dew Pond has appeared to lack a change of gear over that trip in two subsequent outings, so this extra yardage is in his favour. In contrast, ROBEAM drops in distance but might appreciate it following his 2m fourth here, and he remains on a mark which should be workable. Artic Nel occupied the runner-up berth at Nottingham but was beaten a long way, while Jan De Heem hasn't been far away the last twice but has won just once since September 2015.

He is up another 8lb and his hat-trick plans might be scuppered by KAPONO, who has a 6lb penalty to contend with but was very impressive at Newcastle on Friday night and is wisely turned out again by Roger Fell before the assessor takes revenge. Timetodock is holding his form well and merits a place on the shortlist, along with Tie A Yellowribbon.

Grand Inquisitor is on a hat-trick following victories in a Chelmsford handicap and a C&D claimer, but those ambitions could be thwarted by NEW SHOW. Michael Bell's gelding doesn't have too many miles on the clock and isn't the most reliable, but there were signs at Windsor last time that he is edging back towards the top of his game. Ingleby Hollow scored at Thirsk and returned there to finish an honourable third off this 4lb higher figure, so has to enter calculations too.

ARABIAN JAZZ has been off for 10 months but developed into a progressive handicapper last term and there is the potential for plenty more improvement. In complete contrast to Michael Bell's filly, Harvest Day turns out just five days on from her Carlisle third, her second run in the month of June, so won't lack for fitness in any way. Eponina made a successful return from a break at Chester, while Rux Ruxx prevailed in a Carlisle thriller, and both are contenders again.

It is virtually impossible to look beyond I COULD DO BETTER, who should extend his unbeaten record to three. Having claimed the scalp of subsequent St James's Palace runner-up King Of Comedy on his Redcar debut at the back end of last season, the son of Canford Cliffs returned with a dominant display at Carlisle and could be competing in Pattern company before too long. Ripon third Springwood Drive should be the one to chase him home, with Little Miss Muffin possibly the pick of the remainder.
