If he improves for that run then the four-year-old could take plenty of beating in this weaker contest. Beyond Equal and Exalted Angel both have to be respected following their recent victories, while Tinto and Miracle of Medinah are others to note.

LIBERTY BEACH won twice prior to finishing fourth in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and she is clearly the one to beat today based upon that evidence. Al Raya remains a maiden but she finished just a place behind the selection last time out and is an obvious threat today. Makyon is another with valid form claims, while Rayong and Expressionist complete the shortlist.

RIOT was very green when only beaten a head on his debut over C&D three weeks ago and he can be expected to get off the mark today, having had the benefit of that first race experience. That said, Moolhim also displayed promise on his debut and he could give the selection plenty to think about. All of the newcomers make some appeal on paper but Laser Show, who is closely related to some high-class performers in Australia, is the pick of them.

ROYAL LINE signed off last season by landing the November Handicap at Doncaster and looked ready for a step up in class there and then. Expected to have improved again for John Gosden during his time off the track, the five-year-old is taken to make the most of the 3lb he receives from penalised Goodwood winner Elarqam, with whom he's the joint-top rated runner in the race on official figures. In receipt of a weight-for-age allowance from the aforementioned pair, Roger Varian's three-year-old Fifth Position also warrants plenty of respect.

JAZEEL lost nothing in defeat when keeping on from off the pace to finish second behind Mountain Angel at Epsom last time and Jedd O'Keeffe's thriving four-year-old, who was only narrowly denied by Elector on his seasonal return on the Rowley Mile, is expected to gain a deserved victory at a venue where he recorded winning distance form for Michael Bell last summer. Badenscoth won over course and distance on soft ground off 7lb lower three weeks ago and could take a hand if proving as effective on this faster surface, while Beringer, another track-and-trip winner in the field, can be forgiven a troubled run in the Royal Hunt Cup.

SHIP OF THE FEN scored readily on quick ground at Salisbury before following that up with a solid second at Goodwood a few weeks later, and still looks to be on the upwards trajectory for Ian Williams. The four-year-old has an interesting jockey booking in the shape of Kerrin McEvoy and remains unexposed over this distance. Gwafa won the Swinton Hurdle at Haydock in 2016 and could be fairly treated off a mark of 87 back on the Flat after a 508-day absence from all codes, while Beer With The Boys looked progressive last autumn and is interesting off a low weight.

CLUB TROPICANA wasn't fazed by a drop to this distance when landing the spoils at Yarmouth in late May and could strike again given that she looks better on this surface than on the all-weather. A 3lb rise doesn't look harsh for those exertions and she can prove too good for this field. Sir Plato wasn't suited by a tactical affair when third at Bath last month but still performed creditably, while the unexposed Tajdeed could prove best of the remainder.
