VIA SERENDIPITY is rated 104 on the all-weather after romping to a five-length victory at Chelmsford last month but he can compete off a 7lb lower mark back on turf, has winning C&D form in the book and was a good third in this contest 12 months ago. Qaroun went close at Newcastle recently and wouldn't be winning out of turn. History Writer, Greenside and Lush Life are all well suited by the stiff mile here and have viable place claims, while it would come as no surprise to see Key Victory put his Royal Hunt Cup disappointment behind him.

ENCAPSULATION finished runner-up to subsequent Oaks second Pink Dogwood in a Listed event over 1m2f at Navan last time and is worth a market check now dropping back to a mile on her first start for Andrew Balding. Beyond Reason has been off the track since running in Group 1 company at Newmarket in October and could fare better in this lower grade, likewise Hidden Message, who drops down from Group 2 level.

The dual Arc winner Enable is clearly the one to beat this afternoon but there are good reasons to be taking her on at such short odds. She was all out to beat MAGICAL by three quarters of a length in the Breeders' Cup Turf last November and the drop in trip is much more likely to suit Aidan O'Brien's filly. Enable is proven on quick ground but a fast surface over 1m2f is not ideal, add in the fact that she is giving up race fitness to Magical and the daughter of Galileo has every chance of reversing that American form. Regal Reality put in a career best when beating Matterhorn easily over C&D in May and he should not be underestimated this afternoon.

MORAAWED was a fast-finishing winner over 6f at Doncaster three starts ago and both of his subsequent performances over the same trip suggest that he should be suited by this step up in distance. Make A Wish disappointed on her handicap debut but it is far too soon to be writing her off. Magical Wish made the frame in a valuable sprint at York last month, where he finished in front of the selection, and Richard Hannon's colt merits the utmost respect.

Mekong was disappointing in Listed company at York last month but could do better now upped in distance for Sir Michael Stoute, while any market support for Hermoso Mundo would be interesting on stable debut for Hughie Morrison, who has landed the last two renewals of this contest. Cleonte easily won the Queen Alexandra at Royal Ascot two weeks ago, but this can go the way of Dermot Weld's FALCON EIGHT. Second behind subsequent Group 2 Curragh Cup hero Twilight Payment at Leopardstown last time and ahead of the Ascot Gold Cup third and sixth, all looks set for a big run from the unexposed stayer under Frankie Dettori.

Second to subsequent Ribblesdale Stakes winner Star Catcher in a maiden in April, the three-year-old opened her account at the fourth time of asking at Lingfield recently and won't be deterred by this step up in distance.
