If PAKENS ROCK can leave behind a disappointing effort at Punchestown last month, he will prove difficult to beat. He finished fourth to the Champion Bumper winner Envoi Allen in a Listed bumper at Navan in December and backed that performance up with a solid display on hurdling debut when second at Ballinrobe. The Abbey showed improvement on his first outing for Gordon Elliott at Clonmel and has more to offer in this sphere, while Whatsyourstatus is respected on his recent handicap efforts.

Everybreathyoutake won his maiden at Downpatrick last month but needs to improve again, while stablemate Soldier At War is another to take seriously.

IAMASTARTOO finished second on his handicap bow at Wexford four days ago and looks ready to go one better for Noel Meade. The six-year-old has only had four runs over hurdles and remains open to improvement. Slainte And Thanks is reliable at this level but was disappointing on the Flat at Tipperary 16 days ago, while Mr Moondance showed a bit more enthusiasm when fourth at Downpatrick last time and is also noted.

It is interesting that Davy Russell takes over on Peter Croke's HUMPS AND BUMPS, who was an encouraging fourth at Tipperary last week and could build on that off the same mark. Blinkers are now added to Watching Brief, who made the podium when sent off favourite on the same Tipperary card and has to be seen as a leading candidate once again, while Josephina was another to go off favourite last time and could remain popular now stepping up in trip.

GETAWAY SOME DAY outran her odds when second at Punchestown on debut and is entitled to improve plenty for that first outing. She was fairly keen for much of that contest but stuck on well when push came to shove at the finish to find just one too good. Downpatrick second Caer is likely to be popular for Noel Meade, while experienced pair Blue Heather and Kashmir Wide also warrant respect.
