EAGLES BY DAY bounced back from his disappointing run in the Lingfield Derby Trial when producing a career-best effort to finish third to Japan in the King Edward VII at Royal Ascot. The manner in which he finished off his race on that occasion, and his pedigree being out of Gold Cup-placed Missunited, suggests the step up in trip will very much play to his strengths. Queen's Vase runner-up Barbados continues to go the right way and, along with the third from that contest, Nayef Road, has to enter calculations. The latter-named has the potential to reverse the form with the slight drop back in distance appearing in his favour.
Prediction : 1st Eagles By Day 2nd Nayef Road 3rd Barbados

Visinari created a big impression over C&D on his racecourse bow last month and connections have wasted no time in acquiring the services of Frankie Dettori. However, he will need to take a step forward from that performance and the Coventry third, GUILDSMAN, shades the vote. Archie Watson's colt built on his impressive debut victory at Goodwood when getting within a length of Arizona at Royal Ascot and that form sets a very high standard in the context of this event. Royal Lytham, who finished seventh behind the selection last time, is in the right hands to take another step forward on this occasion, while Windsor Castle second Platinum Star could benefit from the return to 6f.
Prediction : 1st Guildsman 2nd Royal Lytham 3rd Visinari

Aplomb benefited from the return to 6f at Nottingham on his latest start and a 5lb rise might underestimate the authority of his success. That said, all of his runs so far have come on ground softer than he encounters on this occasion so he has to prove his versatility on this surface. Several of these ran in a good handicap at York last month with Magical Wish (third), Dazzling Dan (sixth), RATHBONE (eighth) and Blown By Wind (ninth) all reopposing, but Kevin Ryan's gelding is taken to bounce back. Gelded last autumn, he won two on the bounce before his effort on the Knavesmire on a softer surface so the return to faster ground is expected to bring about further progression. Others to consider include Top Breeze, a winner at the Craven meeting who steps back up to 6f, the hat-trick seeking Moss Gill and Street Parade.
Prediction : 1st Rathbone 2nd Top Breeze 3rd Aplomb

Last year's Derby hero Masar made a satisfactory return when fifth in the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot where he was inconvenienced by a poor start before shaping as though he would improve for the run. The son of New Approach will need to take a step forward to reverse the form with Mirage Dancer (third), who is reunited with Ryan Moore for the first time this season, but it would be no surprise if COMMUNIQUE, who finished last in the aforementioned contest, returned to his best. His trainer Mark Johnston has done particularly well at this meeting over the years and a return to front-running tactics, which saw him to great effect at the Guineas meeting at this level, along with the booking of Silvestre De Sousa could see him back to form despite him giving weight to all of his rivals.
Prediction : 1st Communique 2nd Mirage Dancer 3rd Masar

Daily Times is the pick of those with previous experience based on her neck defeat at York last time out, although she could be vulnerable to a classier type. Godolphin have owned the winner of this race (or a division of it) five times since 2011 and DUBAI PARADISE could add to that record today. The daughter of Exceed And Excel is out of a mare who won twice as a two-year-old and she is from the family of some top-class performers in Australia. Led Astray is another interesting newcomer being a half-sister to a pair of Group-winning juveniles at this track in Hatta Fort and Blue Bayou. Charming Spirit, East Of Eden and Fast And Free are others who merit market inspections.
Prediction : 1st Dubai Paradise 2nd Daily Times 3rd Led Astray

URBAN ICON (fourth) just finished in front of Duke Of Hazzard (fifth) and Momkin (sixth) in the Jersey at Royal Ascot and Richard Hannon's colt rates the one to beat this afternoon. The son of Cityscape was only beaten a head by the subsequent Group 1-placed Space Blues at Epsom on his previous start and a reproduction of either of those efforts should be good enough to win this race. Momkin did find trouble in running at Ascot and could get closer to the selection this afternoon. Turgenev has to be respected based on his effort in the Britannia and he is the pick of the remainder.
Prediction : 1st Urban Icon 2nd Momkin 3rd Turgenev

Moqtarreb was an impressive winner of a novice race over C&D last time out but he had previously been beaten off a mark of 85 at Doncaster, which has to be a concern today. With that in mind, the preference is for WINGS OF TIME, who was not beaten far under a penalty here last month and that form suggests that an opening mark of 90 should be workable. Global Gift has been in outstanding form of late and is an obvious threat, while Martineo merits each-way consideration.
Prediction : 1st Wings Of Time 2nd Global Gift 3rd Moqtarreb
