CASPIAN PRINCE left behind a couple of below-par performances this season when third in the Coral Charge at Sandown last weekend and is considered a leading contender now eased into Listed company. Copper Knight has been in fine order this season and should be snapping at the selection's heels at a venue where he rarely runs a bad race. Grade dropper Emblazoned is respected, while the admirably consistent Final Venture cannot be left out of calculations either.

GOLD MOUNT accounted for Raheen House (second) over this course and distance four weeks ago and that form is worth following here. Both horses were making their debuts for new yards on that occasion, and it would be surprising if there wasn't more to come from the pair. The selection is being aimed at the Melbourne Cup and could do with scoring again to keep that dream alive. Weekender was second in the Ebor here in August and is another to consider.

ESCOBAR produced his best performance of the season when second at Sandown last time. He bumped into a useful opponent on that occasion, but could pick up some compensation here off a 1lb higher mark with a top jockey employed in the saddle. Rise Hall arrives in good form and is respected, while the consistent Masham Star should give his usual solid account. Crownthorpe was unlucky at Newcastle last month, but was in peak condition before that and is considered.

Afaak had Stylehunter back in fourth when taking the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot last month and the pair both warrant plenty of respect back up in distance. Jazeel earned a 5lb penalty for a victory at Sandown last Friday and along with Mountain Angel, who he finished second to at Epsom on Oaks day, have to enter calculations. The vote, at the prices, goes to SCARLET DRAGON, as he produced a strong level of form on the all-weather last winter and appears fairly handicapped back on turf.

AL KOUT looks a progressive stayer for Heather Main and might be ready to claim his first success on turf. Second at Kempton 10 days ago, he showed a nice attitude to stay on after being headed late in the day, and remains unexposed over this stamina-sapping distance. Mancini doesn't know how to underperform and was a close second over this course and distance in May, while Michael's Mount is better than what he showed at Newcastle recently and could bounce back.

Despite having to give weight to all of his rivals, the one to beat is OH PURPLE REIGN, who has hit the crossbar in all three starts since making a successful debut at Nottingham in May, and Richard Hannon's consistent colt appears to have been found an ideal opportunity to get back to winning ways. No Mercy is another with strong claims based upon previous form, while Staxton Hill and Abstemious are the pick of the newcomers.

ENDOWED was sent off favourite for his last run at Carlisle, which was his first outing since being gelded, and although he could manage no better than third, he was beaten by less than a length and appears the type who could flourish now moving into nurseries. Dragon Command is respected after opening his account over this trip at Hamilton, while fellow handicap debutant Teenar kept on well over 5f last time and could relish the return to 6f.
