MAYFAIR SPIRIT has developed into a useful handicapper, winning three of his last four outings including over C&D last time, and Charlie Fellowes' gelding may not have finished progressing just yet. Mutasaamy has been gelded ahead of his handicap debut which could see him improve considerably, while Military Tactic can benefit from stepping back up to a mile based on his effort at Wolverhampton over 7f last month.
Prediction : 1st Mayfair Spirit 2nd Mutasaamy 3rd Military Tactic

Fred benefited from the extra furlong when getting off the mark on his second start at Leicester but he will need to improve again if he is to defy a penalty. Tom Dascombe has won this contest twice in the past three seasons, including with subsequent Listed winner Great Scot, and HE'S A KEEPER shades the vote. A son of Brazen Beau, he is out of a dual Listed-placed performer and can continue his trainer's fine record at the Merseyside venue. Mambo Nights, a 250,000gns purchase at Tattersalls Book 1, and Tell Me All, a homebred colt out of a French Oaks winner, complete the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st Hes A Keeper 2nd Mambo Nights 3rd Tell Me All

RAILPORT DOLLY lost little in defeat when second over this trip at Leicester two weeks ago and wouldn't need to find much improvement in order to defy a 2lb rise. Prevent has only been raised 2lb for scoring over this distance at Newbury earlier in the month and could be the one to put up most resistance, while a step up in trip could unlock improvement from 1m1f Goodwood scorer Gloweth, who cannot be left out of calculations either.
Prediction : 1st Railport Dolly 2nd Prevent 3rd Gloweth

Matchmaking has a 343-day absence to overcome but is worth a market check for a stable among the winners of late. With the benefit of a recent run to his name, however, recent Thirsk scorer BUCKLAND BOY shades preference. He kept on well over 1m4f on that occasion and could appreciate this stiffer test. Recent Doncaster second Contrebasse and Takbeer, who returns from a spell hurdling, are others to bear in mind.
Prediction : 1st Buckland Boy 2nd Matchmaking 3rd Takbeer

SOMEWHERE SECRET has won twice in recent months and that includes his victory at Chepstow last time out. A reproduction of that effort today would make the five-year-old very hard to beat, off just a 3lb higher rating. Show Palace is another recent winner who has to be given the utmost respect, while Excessable and Red Stripes complete the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st Somewhere Secret 2nd Show Palace 3rd Excessable

APERITIF made a winning handicap debut at Goodwood last month and the unexposed filly makes the most appeal this evening off just a 3lb higher mark. Lydiate Lady's last couple of efforts have been encouraging and it would be no surprise to see her in the mix today. Others to consider in an open race are Teepee Time and David's Beauty.
Prediction : 1st Aperitif 2nd Lydiate Lady 3rd Teepee Time
