UK Horse Racing Tips: Ayr

Custodian, Panist and Shadow Leader all have pedigrees to suggest they should be pretty forward as juveniles, but it is hard to look past MAYSONG. Ed Dunlop's colt showed the benefit of his debut outing when beaten less than a length on heavy ground at Nottingham, and the recent rain is very much in the favour of the son of Mayson.

Tarnhelm has landed a pair of handicaps at Carlisle and has claims if transferring that form to this track. She is up 8lb for the latest of those wins, though, so TAI SING YEH gets the vote. The Irish raider won nicely over this course and distance in May and followed up with a solid effort at Naas. Raised 2lb for that second, he may well still be on the up. Kodicat and Ventura Secret both have claims on recent runner-up finishes.

Dream House won a maiden handicap in gutsy fashion at Redcar and was far from disgraced at Haydock last time. He has claims here, along with Northern Society, who could sharpen up for the application of blinkers and is down to her last winning mark. HARD SOLUTION gets the nod, though, as he won a pair of sellers in good style and returned to handicaps with a solid performance at Hamilton.

No less than 26 of ROYAL DUCHESS' 41 career starts have come at this track and she showed that she still has plenty of zest at the age of nine when landing her fifth C&D success last time. Annexation is at the other end of the scale experience-wise but showed enough in three starts to have a chance off a mark of 64, while Prince Of Time was beaten a head by Tarnhelm, who runs earlier on the card, at Carlisle.

RETIREMENT BECKONS has got better with every run this campaign and gained compensation for an agonising C&D defeat by breaking through at Hamilton. Connections are wise to get him out again quickly and he can double up at the chief expense of Catterick victor Macs Blessings. Forever A Lady and Olivia R have been performing with credit in defeat, while Battle Of Yarmouk could leave his previous form behind now he has had a wind operation and steps out of maiden company.

Rosemay finally got on the scoresheet at Hamilton, but she had previously been among BETTY GRABLE's victims there and at this circuit. Wilf Storey's likeable mare went out on her shield when only just failing to complete a hat-trick at Carlisle, but she remains on an upward curve and can bounce back. Move In Faster, Orobas, Ventura Royal and last year's winner Lucky Violet are capable of getting involved as well.

Just over a week on from his 1m victory here, NICHOLAS T returned to take in another contest over the same C&D and almost defied his penalty. He isn't resting on his laurels and runs off a 4lb lower figure so should be able to resume winning ways. There is a suspicion that he is happiest over that trip and if stamina does prove his downfall, Asian Angel is most likely to capitalise. Windsor Cross and Glasses Up aren't out of it, though.

Tawseef has struck up a good partnership with Ella McCain and the young jockey gave her father's veteran an enterprising ride to run right away from his Nottingham rivals. A 5lb rise isn't unduly harsh by any means but he may have nicked the race, whereas BURN SOME DUST came from the rear to claim third on his York comeback, and the rise from 1m4f can help him resume last year's progression. Hugoigo is best of the rest.
