Debutant winner Better The Devil's heavy defeat came in Listed company at Royal Ascot two starts ago and he was better when placed at Yarmouth, but STREAMLINE recovered from a slow start to win going away at Bath on debut and he's likely to have learnt plenty from that outing. The others to have tasted racecourse action haven't shown much, so perhaps Simply Silca could be the biggest danger to the two previous winners.

MUTASAAMY showed the benefit of switching to handicaps when putting in a career-best effort for second at Haydock last time and a 1lb rise might not be enough to stop him going one better. Sir Ox struggled on turf at Windsor latest but his previous form on this surface means he has to be respected, while Pushmi Pullyu was never a factor at Newmarket 45 days ago but her previous win at Yarmouth was convincing enough for her to be given another chance.

Sussex Solo won nicely on the turf at Lingfield last time but his previous two visits to this track have ended in heavy defeats. Dargel was not disgraced when tried here in March and won at Chepstow latest, but preference is for RECUERDAME. Simon Dow's gelding pulled nicely clear of the remainder when second over this course and distance last month and he gets another chance off the same mark.

Expensive Dirham met trouble in running on her debut at Doncaster and could progress with a clear run here, while Walkonby shaped as though she would improve for the outing when sixth at Ascot first time out. None of those with previous experience set the bar particularly high, though, so perhaps SOUTH COAST is the answer. Saeed bin Suroor's daughter of War Front fetched $300,000 at the sales and is bred to relish artificial surfaces.

RUN WILD was a solid third on her debut at Newbury, running on strongly towards the end of that 6f contest, which suggests the slight step up in trip is likely to suit John Gosden's filly. Stylistique is an obvious danger after filling third place at Newbury on her debut outing, while Sir Michael Stoute's Tanita, a debutant by Frankel and out of a full-sister to the high-class Midday, certainly catches the eye on breeding.

IRONCLAD certainly hasn't been stopping at the end of his races the last twice, when recording wins over 10 furlongs at Beverley and Newmarket. Hugo Palmer's charge is only 5lb higher for those two victories and may flourish over this trip. Laafy was a good winner at Leicester three starts ago and has acquitted himself well in defeat over this trip at York and Goodwood since, while Selino has shown enough in three starts to suggest he can prove better than a mark of 79 in time.

HAMEEM was not beaten far at Ascot latest, having struggled in Listed company at Pontefract the time before. This race looks easier still and she can get the better of Plait, who won on an artificial surface at Chelmsford in January. Point In Time was denied by the narrowest of margins at Newbury last time and she is another to note.

Irene May was unbeaten in two starts last term and looks a very useful competitor, but her 11-month absence tempers enthusiasm. Lapidary scored in novice company at Lingfield in June and may be underestimated by a mark of 75, but SWEET PURSUIT gets the vote. Rod Millman's charge is just 2lb higher than her last winning mark and signalled a return to form with a fair third off 1lb higher at Windsor last time.
