Hugo Palmer's filly was only beaten a length into third on debut at Yarmouth, despite losing many lengths with a sluggish start. If she breaks on terms here, she could prove tough to beat. Looks Good is related to a number of two-year-old winners so appears the pick of the newcomers on show.

COOL SPHERE positively bolted up at Lingfield last time, winning by six lengths, and Robert Cowell's colt could land the spoils again here despite carrying a winner's penalty. Cowell also has a strong contender in Instantly, who has gone close on his last two outings in novice events and looks likely to be winning sooner rather than later. Too Hard To Hold was raised 8lb for his nursery win at Musselburgh but still has a shout, as does the once-raced Reassure.

FURIOUS won well at Wolverhampton in June and followed up with a good second here. Beaten less than two lengths at Newmarket subsequently, David Simcock's filly is evidently holding her form well and can get back to winning ways. Probability is likely to find this easier than the Listed contest she ran in at Naas last time, but she was behind the selection here prior to that. Amplify struggled in a big field at Goodwood but may find this test more to his liking.

Tropics is firmly in the veteran stage of his career, but showed he had plenty of zest when winning here last time. A 4lb rise won't help the 11-year-old, though, especially with CORINTHIA KNIGHT in opposition. Archie Watson's gelding won nicely at Pontefract two starts ago and was not disgraced at Ascot on Shergar Cup day, where he had Caspian Prince behind him. Muthmir has been a class act on his day, so it would be safe to assume he'll exploit his falling mark at some point.

Star Of Southwold was impressive in scoring at Pontefract and could go well despite a 5lb higher mark, while Qaroun has been running well in defeat on the all-weather this summer so can be forgiven a below-par effort on turf last time. Mubhij showed little in a hot handicap at Ascot but may be better judged on his Newcastle win prior to that, though it could be worth taking a chance on NICKLAUS. William Haggas' gelding has run well here in the past and didn't see out the 10-furlong trip at Goodwood last time.

HERCULEAN has no experience of all-weather racing, but he offered plenty of encouragement when second at Newmarket last month and could be worth following again, despite failing as favourite the last three times. Victory Command ran a cracker at Goodwood latest and has to be given a chance, while Lexington Empire went close here in June and was not beaten too far over further at Newcastle last time.

Sandy Steve has been hinting that his time is nearing, following up a fair fourth at Newmarket with a second off this mark at Brighton. Dreamingofdiamonds has been running respectably in novice company to be given a chance, but preference is for RAINBOW JAZZ. Adam West's gelding went down fighting over this course and distance last time and a 1lb lower mark enhances his claims in this.

MURAAQEB takes on Chakrii again here, with Milton Bradley's charge taken to confirm the form of his head success over that rival. The Nathaniel gelding is 1lb worse off with Chakrii this time, but has run well since and evidently operates at his very best at this track. Pike Corner Cross has been in good form on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton and has claims, while Seaquinn is no stranger to this track and could go well.
