The form bar isn't set particularly high, however, so it might be worth taking a chance on Roger Varian's 300,000gns newcomer PREMIER POWER, who is expected to know his job first time out.

Zumurud has been in good order this year and commands respect on the back of his Catterick victory, although a 5lb rise might just prevent him from following up. Narrow preference is for GLENN COCO, who has won four times over 7f this year and might be worth a try at this shorter trip. He was beaten by under a length here last time and doesn't appear weighted out of this at all. Improving three-year-old Chatham House is another cutting back from 7f to consider, while the consistent Lethal Angel, who steps back up from 5f, wouldn't be winning out of turn either.

MILD ILLUSION had plenty in hand when scoring over 6f at Windsor and is expected to remain competitive now stepped up in trip and moving into nurseries off an opening mark of 73. Miss Villanelle made a winning handicap debut off 6lb lower at Newbury and is feared most, while there could be a big run on the cards from Graceful Magic, who stayed on well to force a dead heat over 6f here and might appreciate this stiffer test.

DAZZLING DAN struck over this trip on the Rowley Mile in May and lost little in defeat when third in a competitive three-year-old handicap over C&D at the July Festival last time. A 1lb rise for that one-length beating is unlikely to prevent Pam Sly's charge from mounting another bold bid. Oxted has kept good company and is interesting on his handicap bow, while penalised Leicester scorer Aplomb also makes plenty of appeal.

LADY OF SHALOTT had been threatening to become disappointing before striking here in June and appears to have matured enough to cope with this extra couple of furlongs. The four-year-old was deemed good enough to run in a couple of Group 2s during 2018, and could finally start to fulfil her potential for David Simcock. Jedhi is a half-sister to classy stablemate Marmelo and is another who should improve with time, while hat-trick seeker Oydis has a 12lb rise to contend with but does look progressive.

AUSTRALIS struggled at Salisbury three weeks ago, but she can be forgiven that performance and is better judged on her second at Yarmouth earlier in July. It would be surprising if she wasn't rated better than 75 come the end of the season, and first-time blinkers could help her cope with this drop in distance. Holy Kingdom has found one too good three times in a row, while a return to form for Winged Spur wouldn't be a surprise.

Nubough shaped well on stable debut for Iain Jardine and this switch to 7f appears to be the correct move, but he will have to be very good to account for dual winner MUTAMAASIK. Triumphant at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford, this is his first start on turf and an opening handicap mark of 87 might just give him enough leeway to strike. Tenax is starting to look exposed but could still prove best of the remainder.
