CAP FRANCAIS began the season brightly with creditable displays at Listed level at both Epsom and Lingfield, with the latter performance coming on soft when he was fourth in the Derby Trial. His form has tailed off subsequently but it would come as no surprise to see him bounce back now granted suitable ground again. Hereby handles testing conditions and has place possibilities, along with Sir Michael Stoute's consistent handicapper Almania. On these terms, however, the main danger may be Mark Johnston inmate I'll Have Another.

Henry Candy's GREENSIDE struck in a 0-95 handicap at Windsor in May and although he's been held in three subsequent starts in a higher grade, he's considered a leading contender now his sights have been lowered. His best form has come over 1m but a stiff 7f on soft ground could potentially bring his stamina into play late on. C&D winners Cliffs Of Capri and Raydiance are the pair most likely to capitalise if the selection is outpaced. The latter is feared most as he's a Listed winner on soft and has Simon Walker booked.

LANDA BEACH has run solid races in defeat on soft ground at Newbury and Haydock the last twice. Given he finished well to go down by just a neck over 1m6f on the latter occasion, he's considered a likely improver now stepped up to 2m. Horatio Star has been in good form on fast ground and is one to bear in mind though, given the conditions, bigger dangers may be Laafy and thriving Michael Bell representative Platform Nineteen. A first-time visor may also eke some improvement out of Ian Williams' Darksideoftarnside.

A tightly-knit affair in which four of the five declared runners are separated by only 2lb on official ratings. Narrow preference is for CARAVAN OF HOPE, who performed creditably on soft ground over 1m2f on his penultimate outing at Newbury and has struck the crossbar in both previous starts over this longer trip. Pianissimo is admirably consistent and shaped encouragingly on good to soft in a maiden at Newbury in the spring. King Power hasn't progressed as hoped since finishing a Listed third at Lingfield in May, while Two Bids is fitted with first-time cheekpieces as he bids to raise his game another notch.

MUBAKKER has been mightily impressive when recording back-to-back victories at Wolverhampton and Kempton in novice company. An opening mark of 96 appears fair for Sir Michael Stoute's colt on his handicap bow, although his ability to handle a slow surface has to be taken on trust. Aplomb is proven with some cut in the ground and could handle conditions better than most, while Roulston Scar should go well on the front end but might be vulnerable in the closing stages now stepping back up in grade.
