In an open contest, slight preference is for ALIBABA, who struggled on the Fibresand at Southwell latest but looks better judged on his promising second at Beverley in August.

DONNYBROOK produced an excellent effort to take third on debut at Kempton and though the drop back a furlong in trip is not the most obvious move, John Gosden's decision could be yet another wise one by the handler. Main Reef was very green on debut but the fact he was sent off 4-6 favourite suggest he's been showing plenty at home, while Gmasha and Boom Boom Boom could be the pick of the newcomers.

SOCIETY LION just couldn't get to the leaders after being held up early on debut at Newmarket, but Sir Michael Stoute's colt is likely to have learnt a lot from that and can put the experience to good use. Frankly Mr Shankly was only beaten a length into fifth over this track and trip on debut and has to be considered, while Mishriff and Naizagai are newcomers representing powerful Newmarket yards.

DREAMBOAT DAVE may have to give weight all round here, but he was an emphatic winner at Chelmsford last week and Sarah Humphrey's decision to turn him out under a penalty could pay dividends. Famous Dynasty ran a respectable race at Bath and is considered, while Mistress Nellie only narrowly missed out at Brighton and will be out to atone for that defeat.

Yvette has to be considered on the form of her Kempton second, though she has yet to race on turf which does temper enthusiasm somewhat. Ragstone Cowboy was a long way behind Yvette last time but his previous success on turf gives him a chance of exacting revenge, though a safer option could be OSMOSIS, who has done her best running at Beverley recently but looks capable of exploiting her current mark.

For once punters may be happy to be sent to PURGATORY here, as Chris Wall's ominously-named gelding won nicely over this C&D three starts ago and was again in the winner's enclosure last time after winning narrowly at Kempton. Handicap debutants Squelch and Swiss Cheer both have claims on the pick of their form, while Pamper will surely prove better than she's shown so far and the booking of Ryan Moore catches the eye.

STALLONE could hardly have been more impressive when bolting up on heavy ground at Leicester last time and he will be happy if the ground stays this testing. Mitigator followed up a Kempton second with third place at Ayr and is evidently in good form, while Ecstasea produced a career-best effort at Brighton last time and has to be considered.
