BRYN DU had not shown much at all before finishing on the heels of the winner at Newcastle last time and now the penny appears to have dropped, he could take some stopping here. Jochi Khan was beaten less than three lengths into fifth when pitched into nurseries for the first time at Chelmsford and could have more to offer off 1lb lower, while Bavardages is interesting on his nursery debut for Mark Johnston.

Sir Michael Stoute and John Gosden unleash a pair of Golden Horn newcomers in Galata Bridge and Nova Roma respectively, while Campari already has experience to call on and was far from disgraced at Sandown last time. However, it is another experienced runner who gets the vote in ZAFEER. Marco Botti's colt has already gone close in a pair of outings over 7f at Yarmouth and the manner of those efforts suggest that the extra furlong here should suit him down to the ground.

YA HAYATI was withdrawn at the stalls before his intended debut so it is perhaps unsurprising that he was given a considerate ride when actually making his first start over C&D earlier this month. Charlie Appleby's charge is likely to improve on that and could put his experience to good use, as his main dangers appear to be newcomers, such as Clive Cox's Pawpaw, the John Gosden-trained Cemhaan and Sir Michael Stoute's debutant Nashy.

FENNAAN appeared to relish the switch to an artificial surface and the drop to this trip when scoring in fine style at Newcastle last time, appearing to have plenty left in the tank. A 4lb rise may not be enough to stop him and he gets the vote ahead of Akvavera, who was only beaten a length into third here earlier in the month and remains on the same rating. Wolverhampton second Reloaded and Chelmsford third Corazon Espinado also merit respect.

Major Valentine's three-race winning run came to an abrupt end when only midfield in the Ayr Silver Cup, while Drummond Warrior won his first two starts at Windsor but toiled at Doncaster last time. It may be too soon to say the wheels have come off for either of those horses, but FIRELIGHT has slipped to a really attractive mark and providing she is not as keen as she was at Newmarket last time, she could take advantage.

QUINTADA had Stagehand well in arrears when landing a four-runner race at Newmarket with aplomb and the daughter of Leroidesanimaux should have no problems with the switch back to the all-weather. Stagehand was ahead of the selection at Wolverhampton two starts ago but now has plenty of ground to make up after that HQ reverse, so a bigger danger could be Kyllachy Gala, who ran a cracker here last time.
