WENCESLAUS won over fences at the second attempt for David Bridgwater when scoring in good style at Plumpton 11 days ago. He is due to go up 7lb in the near future but can take advantage of running off the same rating today, as well as having Mitchell Bastyan take 5lb off. Percy Thrower has benefited from a wind operation and the application of a visor on his last couple of starts and is respected in his hat-trick bid, along with Southwell chase winner Battleofthesomme.
Prediction : 1st Wenceslaus 2nd Percy Thrower 3rd Battleofthesomme

The connections of FRANCE DE REVE combined to win this contest in 2017 with Dame De Compagnie, who went on to Listed success, and the daughter of Lord Du Sud makes plenty of appeal based on her sole victory in a French bumper at Brehal. A Perfect Gift finished fourth in a Listed bumper at Market Rasen in January and this course winner must enter calculations based on that form. Others to note include Mick Mona and Nikap.
Prediction : 1st France De Reve 2nd A Perfect Gift 3rd Mick Mona

IDEE DE GARDE found the step up in class too much to handle when last seen in a Grade 2 behind Mister Fisher at Haydock in January. Prior to that performance, he had shown a fair amount of promise when chasing home another Nicky Henderson runner in Champagne Platinum at Newcastle and Dan Skelton's gelding is likely to have benefited from a long break. Steady Away (second) and Ashfield Paddy (fourth) can both enter the reckoning based on their meeting in a C&D event last month.
Prediction : 1st Idee De Garde 2nd Steady Away 3rd Ashfield Paddy

Summerville Boy endured a frustrating campaign last season, following his Supreme Novices' Hurdle victory in 2018, and while he appeared to run better at Punchestown behind Buveur D'Air, it remains to be seen how he takes to fences having been clumsy at times over timber. Thomas Darby finished runner-up in this year's renewal of the Supreme and has the scope to make up into a decent chaser, but a chance is taken with FIRST FLOW. He was only out once last season due to an exceptionally dry winter and his Grade 2 victory at Haydock in January 2018, when beating Midnight Shadow by 10 lengths, is particularly strong form. Of the rest, Captain Moirette shaped well on his return at Wetherby and makes some appeal on his chasing debut.
Prediction : 1st First Flow 2nd Thomas Darby 3rd Captain Moirette

HEAVENLY PROMISE ran out an impressive winner at Sedgefield 12 days ago and providing she is over those exertions, Fergal O'Brien's mare could take full advantage of being able to race off the same rating as that success came in a conditional jockeys' event. Beni Light is a consistent performer who warrants respect, along with Joly Maker, who returns to fences after a decent third over hurdles at Wincanton.
Prediction : 1st Heavenly Promise 2nd Beni Light 3rd Joly Maker

STUPID CUPID is the only runner in the field with the benefit of a recent outing and could put that to effective use. A winner at Worcester on that occasion, the eight-year-old should just about get away with this sort of ground and can defy a 7lb penalty. Lady Master showed a nice attitude to finish second when last seen in March, while Overawed ran well fresh at Hereford last year and is also respected.
Prediction : 1st Stupid Cupid 2nd Lady Master 3rd Overawed

BLACK SAM'S SILVER is related to a bumper winner and could take some beating for a yard that thrives with such types. The son of Black Sam Bellamy cost 50,000 pounds at the sales last year and might have too much for likely market rival The Big Sting, who looks a longer-term type on paper. Exod'ela was second on debut in this sphere for Jamie Snowden at Fontwell four weeks ago and is another to take seriously.
Prediction : 1st Black Sams Silver 2nd The Big Sting 3rd Exodela
