Instant Return made a pleasing beginning to his hurdling career when third at Ballybrit, while Red Gerry is the pick of the new recruits after his fourth in the Irish Cesarewitch.

HONEYSUCKLE developed into the best novice of her sex last season, going through the campaign unbeaten. She was forced to sit out the Cheltenham Festival following a late setback, but made amends with a dominant Grade 1 display at the Irish National fixture and is an exciting prospect. Mister Blue Sky won a Grade 2 here and then didn't disgrace himself at the highest level at the Punchestown Festival. His stable companion Easy Game was a good novice last term, while Canardier held his own in some of the toughest handicaps.

After creating a big impression on his sole start between the flags, ANDY DUFRESNE was snapped up by Gordon Elliott for a princely sum and duly showed why when toying with his rivals in a NH Flat race at Down Royal. He entered the Champion Bumper picture on the back of that but his powder has been kept dry since and he is an exciting prospect. Diol Ker showed plenty of potential in a couple of well contested maiden hurdles last winter and is the logical threat, although K'chou Du Pecos Aa went off favourite for his debut at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting and is clearly held in high regard.

Burlesque Queen proved her 20-1 Clonmel triumph was no fluke when almost following up at Punchestown, with Lagenod and Electricitywork also arriving on the back of second-placed finishes. Blue Empyrean made an encouraging return to reach the frame at Punchestown, but maybe IKNOWWHEREIAMNOW can atone for her Limerick blunder. Philip Dempsey's mare was challenging the eventual winner when coming to grief at the second-last and providing that has left no lasting scars, she can gain compensation off the same mark.

Dillon Maxwell got a great tune out of Billy's Angel at Clonmel last week, with the Adrian Murray-trained seven-year-old running out an emphatic winner. He is turned out again quickly under a penalty but is passed over in favour of DAWSON'S COTTAGE, who gave an upwardly-mobile opponent a bit of a fright on his handicap bow at Punchestown and may be able to go one better off a 5lb higher figure. Percy B Shelley and Solar Heat are also considered.

Allduckornodinner has won two of his last three, most recently under today's jockey at Punchestown, for which he has been handed a 6lb rise. He should remain competitive, but STEER CLEAR is perhaps that little bit better treated because he remains 11lb lower than his timber rating and almost capitalised at Clonmel last week. Witness Of Fashion and Jeannie Cook combined to win this two years ago on his return, so the veteran is one to consider when fresh.

Conditions of this race would appear to benefit FROM EDEN because he has turned into a better chaser than hurdler, yet qualifies for this race thanks to his timber mark. Cherokee Bill also has fencing experience on his side, although he was just behind Batcio at Wexford and it may be one of the chasing newcomers who give Gordon Elliott's charge the biggest run for his money. Of those, Castle Oliver makes particular appeal.
