PEARL JAM went close to getting off the mark over C&D on his latest start in a classified event but the switch to handicap company, combined with the application of first-time cheekpieces, could make the difference required. Four Mile Bridge has been knocking on the door at Wolverhampton of late and could benefit from a change of headgear to a visor, while recent C&D winner Purple Paddy is respected off a 4lb higher mark.

First View made a winning debut when showing a good attitude over C&D at the start of last month and Saeed bin Suroor's colt warrants plenty of respect despite giving 7lb to all of his rivals. Pharoah King, an $800,000 half-brother to Grade 1-placed Giovanni Baldini, and Thibaan are two interesting newcomers to note, but it is the latter's trainer, Sir Michael Stoute, who boasts very strong credentials with FIRST RECEIVER. The son of New Approach shaped with a fair amount of promise in a particularly deep maiden at Newmarket's July meeting, a race that has thrown up plenty of winners, and a replication of that performance would prove good enough in a contest of this nature.

PRAIRIE MOPPINS ran her best race so far when a staying-on fourth at Chelmsford 10 days ago and the extra furlong on this occasion is likely to play to her strengths on nursery debut. Halfacrown ran well on his first outing after wind surgery at Newcastle and could have more to offer, while a pair of cheekpieces and the drop back to a mile appear in the favour of Chateau Peapod.

LAST DATE was arguably value for further than the half-length winning margin suggested at Chelmsford last month, having not had the clearest of runs when beginning to make his challenge, and the 7lb rise appears fair based on that performance. You Don't Own Me is respected on her recent C&D third and can enter calculations along with nursery debutant Oasis Song.

MERCENARY ROSE showed her appreciation for getting back on the Polytrack with an all-the-way triumph over 5f here last week, with Benny And The Jets back in third. The blinkers that worked so well on that occasion are retained and the decision to get her out again before the handicapper has his say looks a wise one. Excellent George hit the crossbar for the third race in succession at Chelmsford and could be second best once more.

Busby is most effective at this venue and proved as much by justifying a short price over 6f last month. He is yet to win over this distance, though, and REACTION TIME could be better treated. The well-related son of Dubawi hasn't shown a great deal in three starts so far but, as a consequence, he now goes handicapping off a decent mark, with a visor applied to help eke out even more improvement. Thechildren'strust will appreciate a drop in trip, while Inexes' winning run came to an end in the Ayr Bronze Cup but can't be written off just yet.

VIBRANCE floundered in testing conditions in a 1m4f Pontefract maiden, but she stayed on nicely for runner-up honours in a Newcastle handicap the time before and could come into her own now faced with a stiffer test of stamina back on the all-weather. Volcanique has been beaten a fair way on her last couple of appearances but there are surely races in her off such a lowly mark. Noble Behest took a step back in the right direction at Wolverhampton, with Sir Canford and Sinndarella also respected.

Percy Prosecco won at Catterick and Wolverhampton but then couldn't justify market support when sent hurdling at Stratford. He may perform better for the return to the level but will do well to get to grips with LONG CALL, who is a better jumper than him and has been making the most of a decent Flat figure of late. Tralee Hills showed more signs of life here last week, whereas Sarim hasn't been seen for a long time but is interesting on his debut for Warren Greatrex.
