MCFABULOUS ended last season with a win in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree in April and it will be very disappointing if he is beaten on his hurdling debut. Floating Rock failed to fire last time out but it is far too soon to be writing him off, while the shortlist is completed by Silver Hallmark and Cook The Books.

CLONDAW RIGGER was let down by a couple of mistakes on his return at Cheltenham last month, but he won on this card 12 months ago over C&D and, on his second outing after wind surgery, appears capable of further progression. The Ogle Gogle Man's form tailed off in the spring but he could enter calculations if showing what he did in the early part of last season, while On The Road is fairly handicapped if building on a satisfactory return over timber at Uttoxeter.

JUST A THOUGHT remains a maiden in this sphere for Rebecca Curtis, but she did miss all of last season and returned to action with a solid fourth at this venue four weeks ago. The seven-year-old doesn't have many miles on the clock for her age and should really appreciate this step up in distance. Jasmin Des Bordes should also enjoy this stiffer test of stamina after a respectable third on reappearance in September, while Perfect Man is another to be interested in.

SIMPLY THE BETTS flopped twice in handicaps last year but could be excused for those efforts on the ground and the six-year-old will have strengthened up plenty during a 340-day absence. Unexposed for his age, a switch to chasing is also expected to suit and this one-time Supreme Novices' Hurdle contender might take some stopping. Cilaos Glace was progressive over hurdles in the spring, while Katpoli and Hes No Trouble are also expected to go well.

THUNDERSTRUCK shaped promisingly on his seasonal/hurdles bow when second at Wincanton last month and is expected to come on appreciably for that outing and strike second time out. Paul Nicholls' Golden Gift is worth monitoring in the betting now returning from an absence and debuting over timber, while Neville's Cross could also make his presence felt after showing up well on his first run for Tom Lacey in a bumper at Hexham.

SWITCH HITTER struck between the flags in April and is interesting now debuting under Rules on his first outing for Paul Nicholls. Into The Woods, having his first start for David Pipe, is another who has shown form between the flags and is worth including on the shortlist. There was promise to take from Big G's debut spin at Stratford in March and he cannot be left out of calculations either.
