RAMSES DE TEILLEE (best price 10-3) is the class horse in the race, which he showed when returning to the track a couple of weeks back. He was expected to win on that occasion, and he obliged with ease. The seven-year-old has cracking from when there’s plenty of give in the ground. The run that I really liked is the second place to Robinsfirth before the Grand National, Robinsfirth is a horse I hold in high regard.

People who followed this column last year will be well aware of my admiration for SIRUH DU LAC (best price 11-2). He’s one of the best jumpers going around, which he proved when winning twice at Cheltenham last season. He loves this track and will also enjoy the conditions. Quite surprised with the price quoted.

Lord North is the likely winner and favourite backer will probably lap up the 4/6 on offer. However I’m going to have a play in the without market. KUWAIT CURRENCY w/o favourite has really relished the all-weather. The three-year-old has been consistent over the last few months, and you can pretty much guarantee he’ll give you a decent run.

I was desperately trying to avoid the favourite here for a number of reasons. However, looking at the rest of the field there’s not a lot to get excited by. There’s concern with all them. Either the distance, the conditions or even the quality. However, TOBEFAIR (best price 10-3) should like the softer conditions, has won at the distance and has won at the track.

ROYAL BIRTH (best price 10-1) first caught my eye when narrowly beating Daschas back in July, he followed that run with three very disappointing efforts. However, he has started to hit some form in the last couple of months. He won twice at good odds in September, which he then followed up with a second place at Kempton. He has a cracking chance of placing.

I actually think this is a pretty weak race and have picked out two at decent odds who are more than capable of winning this. The first is SHANWALLA (best price 14-1) who has been very consistent, and has put in some pretty solid displays including a narrow second to The Big Galloper in very bad conditions in September. TREASURE DILLON (best price 11-1) ran third a few weeks ago to Duke Street but finished ahead of horses like Tedham.
