Western Ryder jumped a lot better compared to his chasing debut when third in a good race at Uttoxeter earlier this month and should appreciate this step up in distance, while First Assignment should have learnt plenty from his first outing over the larger obstacles on ground that would have been testing enough for him at Cheltenham 30 days ago. HOLD THE NOTE was progressive over hurdles and it is no surprise to see connections switch to this discipline so soon in his career. A big five-year-old with plenty of scope, Mick Channon's charge is fancied to relish this test and prove a major force in all of the significant spring festivals next year.
