RESERVE TANK built on his chase debut when scoring in this grade at Wincanton three weeks ago and the way he shaped on that occasion suggests the step up in distance could unlock further improvement. The stable have a strong recent record in the contest, winning three of the last four renewals with Native River, Thistlecrack and Elegant Escape respectively, and he is expected to account for Ardlethen, who has taken well to chasing, and Danny Whizzbang, who won both his hurdle starts last season.

Jerrysback will undoubtedly prove popular on his return to action having achieved a decent level of form in novice company last term and a mark of 145 appears workable. Highway One O One was fancied to run well when unseating in the BetVictor Gold Cup a fortnight ago but he has to enter calculations dropping in grade. The vote, however, goes to ROCKY'S TREASURE as he is likely to benefit from the return to a flat track and his second to RSA runner-up Santini on this card 12 months ago appears the strongest piece of form on offer.

DOWNTOWN GETAWAY found Grade 1 level too much to handle when seventh to stablemate Champ at Aintree but an opening handicap mark of 131 could underestimate his true ability. A wide-margin winner of a Fairyhouse bumper in December 2017, his two hurdle runs prior to Aintree both showed promise, including when getting the better of a subsequent Grade 2-placed rival at Ascot, and he represents a stable who enjoy a lot of success at this meeting. His stable companions, The Cashel Man and Soul Emotion, both make some appeal, while Dan McGrue, a winner at Plumpton last time, and Snow Leopardess are others to note.

Epatante has been absent since turning in a disappointing display in the Mares' Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in the spring and is worth monitoring in the betting, likewise stablemate Elusive Belle, who was last seen winning at Warwick in April, though with the benefit of a recent run to his name, CHRISTOPHER WOOD gets the verdict instead. Stablemate Elegant Escape is 5lb higher than when second in this last season, with recent Cheltenham scorer West Approach and Robinsfirth also representing the in-form Dorset handler. De Rasher Counter has plotted a well-trodden path to this and could catapult talented conditional Ben Jones into the spotlight, while Galway Plate winner Borice and Munster National victor Cabaret Queen lead a solid Irish challenge. However, it could be Nicky Henderson who holds the strongest hand with Ok Corral and ON THE BLIND SIDE. The former appeared a chaser on the upgrade last season before disappointing in the National Hunt Chase. Therefore, a chance is taken on his stablemate, a dual Grade 2 winner over hurdles, who caught the eye when finishing fourth off this mark at Ascot earlier in the month. He could be ahead of the assessor.

Tom George's eight-year-old was runner-up in the Grand Annual last term and has a good record fresh. Chesterfield appears on a fair mark over fences relative to his solid hurdles form and has viable place claims, as do consistent performer Double W's, Magic Saint, who was having his first start following wind surgery when fifth on his seasonal return at Cheltenham, and improving hat-trick seeker Ashoka.
