SLATE HOUSE was in the process of mounting a serious challenge in the BetVictor Gold Cup before coming to grief two out and it is interesting that Colin Tizzard now steps the seven-year-old up in trip as he seeks to boost his confidence in calmer waters. The lightly-raced Tarada seems to possess plenty of ability, while Breaking Waves could leave his latest Haydock disappointment in the past now switched to the larger obstacles.

The most likely winner of this is TEA CLIPPER, who has taken two novice hurdles in commanding fashion so far and could have plenty more to come now sent handicapping. New Agenda is only 1lb higher than his last triumph in this sphere and the C&D winner could surprise in first-time cheekpieces. Ferrobin was never a factor at Ascot but his performances before that entitle the five-year-old to plenty of respect. Diamond Gait, Magic Dancer and Wetherby winner Fransham are others to consider.

LA BAGUE AU ROI wasn't at her best in the Charlie Hall at Wetherby, but she was reportedly in season and probably wouldn't have appreciated the testing ground first time out. This is a far more suitable contest for her, and she can make the most of her 7lb allowance under Richard Johnson. Top Notch is a game type and showed a nice attitude to beat Roksana over hurdles at Aintree. Aso was a sound third in the Charlie Hall but might not appreciate this drop in distance.

MANDALAYAN wasn't easy to win with on the Flat when trained by Jonathan Portman, but he made a really pleasing hurdling debut for Warren Greatrex at Taunton and might take some stopping here on ground that should suit. The four-year-old can prove too strong for West Cork, who has been turned over as favourite in his two appearances under Rules but has shown plenty of potential. Known displayed promise here five weeks ago and is another to note.

WHITE HART LADY had plenty in hand when scoring by four lengths in an Aintree bumper in October and looked one to keep on the right side of. She's A Rocca and Vegas Blue similarly left favourable impressions when winning first time out at Ayr and Bangor respectively, while any money for Gordon Elliott's raider Flying Risk, who dug in gamely to win on debut at Limerick in the summer, would also be notable.

BRIGADIER BOB struck over C&D in October and bounced back from a poor run at Uttoxeter to score over 3m1f at Hereford. Kerry Lee's six-year-old is expected to take an 8lb rise in his stride and follow up. Oscar Ceremony has been in good order at Kelso and is feared most, although there could also be a big run on the cards from Stonebrigg Legend, who picked up minor money over hurdles here last month.
