BIG SHARK made it two on the bounce when scoring under a penalty at Hereford and the five-year-old makes plenty of appeal on his handicap bow with top conditional Ben Jones taking 5lb off. Closing Ceremony can take a step forward from his return effort at Newbury with him boasting a particularly strong record at the track, while Silva Eclipse and Coole Cody appear best of the remainder.

DAKLONDIKE landed this contest in a mudbath 12 months ago and although he's rated 6lb higher on this occasion, he's expected to come on for his recent outings over hurdles and in the Ladbrokes Trophy and successfully defend his crown, albeit he isn't wearing a visor on this occasion. Vintage Clouds has winning C&D form in the book off 2lb lower and was sent off favourite for last season's Scottish Grand National, a race in which Crosspark landed the silver medal. Both runners are dour stayers, though they'd each make more appeal on better ground. The Hollow Ginge, by contrast, could be in his element back on a slower surface. He's an unexposed novice and his mark of 141 appears exploitable.

Dual course winner CHTI BALKO looked on good terms with himself when hacking up by 10 lengths at Bangor on his second run back from a break and although Donald McCain's charge now has a 9lb rise to contend with, his ability to handle bottomless ground could still enable him to prevail. Poetic Rhythm won the Challow two seasons ago and was only seen twice last term - both times over fences. He's worth a market check now back over timber as a result and is considered the main danger ahead of Captain Moirette, who might not be as classy as the last-named but at least has match fitness on his side.
