UK Horse Racing Tips: Leopardstown

Harry Fry must always be feared on his Irish raids and ONEFORTHEROADTOM found only one too strong at the Punchestown Festival back in May. He let down favourite backers at Cheltenham when last seen but the drop from 3m2f is very much in his favour. Shanroe Al C's winning run came to an end at Navan but he lost nothing in defeat. Rocky's Silver did it well at Punchestown and is clearly a better chaser than hurdler.

THE BIG GETAWAY was costly to follow in NH Flat races in the early part of the year, but rewarded those who kept the faith on his Punchestown return and looks an exciting recruit to obstacles. Champion Bumper sixth Sempo had to settle for third on his jumping bow, but the experience won't be lost on him and he could improve past reopposing runner-up January Jets. Cobbler's Way was no match for Andy Dufresne at Navan but beat the rest fair and square and he completes the shortlist.

Willie Mullins is mob-handed as he goes for his fourth successive win in this race, and STORMY IRELAND would appear his primary hope. Runner-up in Grade 1s at Cheltenham and Punchestown, the five-year-old outclassed Black Tears on her comeback and should have too much quality. Her stable companions Elfile and My Sister Sarah fought out a finish at Thurles, but the latter is 3lb better off for a half-length defeat. Cheltenham Festival winner Eglantine Du Seuil was only third behind Stormy Ireland at Punchestown, but should step forward from it.

Battleoverdoyen has bounced back from a disappointing effort at the Cheltenham Festival in his two chase outings and Gordon Elliott's charge promises to be suited by the step up to 3m for the first time. However, he will need to improve to get the better of Albert Bartlett hero MINELLA INDO, who made a satisfactory start to life over fences over an inadequate trip when second to Laurina at Gowran and he bids to continue the fine run of form for Henry de Bromhead at this meeting. Carefully Selected has the ability to be competitive but will need to jump better than he did on his fencing bow at Fairyhouse.

KLASSICAL DREAM lost his unbeaten record for Willie Mullins when third in the Morgiana behind absent stable companion Saldier, but Willie Mullins' Supreme winner is expected to take a decent step forward from that performance. Sharjah was one placed behind the selection at Punchestown but has a bit to prove with softer ground the obvious concern so the main danger could turn out to be Darasso, who had an interesting campaign over a variety of distances last season and connections could reap the rewards in a division that remains muddling at present. Coeur Sublime, the sole four-year-old in the contest, completes the shortlist after making a fine return to action at Down Royal.

CAVALRY MASTER improved from his hurdling debut to score at Punchestown last month and an opening handicap mark of 122 may underestimate the true ability of Henry de Bromhead's gelding with his stable currently in fine fettle. The step back up in distance is unlikely to pose any concern to Drop The Anchor, who won in decent fashion at Punchestown over 2m last month and he warrants consideration along with Definite Plan, who could have more to offer on handicap bow, and Envious Editor.

Gigginstown boast a strong hand with a pair of bumper winners in Wide Receiver, a 410,000 pounds purchase who scored at Navan earlier in the month, and ERIC BLOODAXE, who disposed of a good field at Fairyhouse. Slight preference goes to the latter as he probably achieved more in beating a well-regarded type of Willie Mullins and can only improve from that effort. Fiston De Becon was well fancied on his debut in the Land Rover bumper at Punchestown and it is of interest that he returns to this sphere with Derek O'Connor back in the saddle.
