Based on those performances, he could prove a tough nut to crack despite carrying a penalty. War Lord won on hurdling debut at Plumpton and ran with credit when attempting to follow up at Hereford in November. He can provide the main threat along with Sir Psycho, who receives the weight-for-age allowance and has Bryan Carver's 7lb claim to also help his chance.

KING ROLAND won two bumpers impressively last season and he only found one too good on his hurdles debut at Newbury in November. A reproduction of any of those performances should be good enough to win this contest.
