Gealach got off the mark at Punchestown recently and he could prove to be the main threat to the selection, ahead of stablemate Aramax and Takarengo.

MISTER EDDMAN bounced back to form to win at Punchestown a couple of weeks ago and a 5lb rise in the ratings for that success may not be enough to stop him from taking this contest as well. Alohamora won over fences last time out and could play a key role in this contest. Thunder Down Under and Fit To Be Tied could reward each-way support.

Gordon Elliott has won the last three runnings of this contest and the County Meath handler could strike again, with the tentative vote going to last year's scorer DUCA DE THAIX. Although racing off a 6lb higher rating than when successful 12 months ago, he has the talented Sean O'Keeffe taking a handy 5lb off his back and looks to be coming to the boil nicely, leaving his seasonal reappearance effort at Naas well behind when third over an extended 2m here latest. Last year's third Blazer merits respect, although a lack of a recent run may count against him, while Henry De Bromhead looks to have a solid hand with Arvico Bleu and Ornua.

Willie Mullins looks to have a couple of solid chances with Annamix and Voix Des Tiep, with Paul Townend seemingly choosing the latter, while Valdieu could have his say if fully recovered from an early fall at Leopardstown over the Christmas period. However, CHOSEN MATE went on to finish a solid third in the aforementioned Leopardstown contest and it is he who shades the verdict under Davy Russell. That run, his first in this sphere, is entitled to bring him on and the past course scorer is fancied to mount a bold bid.

Gavin Cromwell's top-weight stepped forward when switched to handicaps in this sphere for the first time, making the frame in a competitive Leopardstown affair, and he should be able to build on it.

Five Bar Brian hasn't been sighted for over two years but makes obvious appeal on his first start for the champion trainer. The Arthur Moore-trained six-year-old made a debut full of promise at Naas, and the two in front of him have performed well again subsequently. Harry Alonzo is worth a second look as well.
